Very painterly… I wish that I could paint like that. My paintings turned out to look like the photograph that I’m using as a reference… I can’t seem to get away from copying. I stopped painting for about six years because I was so down on myself. But that was the approach I needed to just keep doing what I’m doing and gradually try to change to wear my work like a painting and not a photograph. Thank you for your demonstration. Hi Clare, I love your videos (think I mentioned that before 😁) . Not only do I watch them to get inspiration for my own painting journey that I started only a very short while ago, I also play your videos in the background when I am in my studio painting or working on my photography (postprocessing, printing, matting etc). What a beautify painting! I'm a bit baffled how you can get away with painting around those patches of seaweed on the beach without the sand getting polluted with the green colour. The bane of my life is pristine sky turning green because I tried to paint around some foliage.

Good question! If you load the brush and hold the angle close to the painting so it doesn't mix what's underneath it. Hope that makes sense?
