I think in the US is it much harder than Caribbean cultures like Cuba and Haiti who share a common Ifa belief in the deities, spirits and the mystical forces beyond the physical. There is something to them all. There is something there that modern ideologies and science can't explain, but older philosophies and theologies can explain.

Europeans once believed in many deities and honoring the ancestors, but something had happened that caused them to be disconnected, and then spread that out throughout the world. It is good that many people in the world are taking note and are returning to their roots, including honoring the deities and the ancestors, regardless of nationality or culture. My great grandfather (a large Irish white man who married with an Asian/Mexican lady) believed in the orishas and did treatments to protect my mother on many occasions as she was growing up. When I always needed my mom to be protected or something, I always asked my great grandfather to help her and to protect her. He seem to connect to me and respond. That is why lucumi calls to me, because great grandfather and great grandmother were a practitioners too. Funny how the water knows its source and all water came from the same source. Europeans, Americans, Asians, Australians... all came from Africa.

I'm so glad I came across this video. I'm finding that I'm confused when it comes to connecting because I don't know much about my family. They weren't very communicative with all within the family. sometimes, leadership is just inherited and it needs to be improved or elevetated to higher level. So this is why they need honoring and blessings. Not everything is just because people are just in need of help because of weakness such as war or poverty or natural disasters.
