I know this is an older video but I’m considering fitting to my 2019 GT. Looking at your pics you shared on flickr seems intimidating to do. I’m guessing you bought separately the relay and made the brackets yourself?

Hi, yes, that's what I did.I am a fabricator, so it was straightforward for me to make. The harder part was figuring out the locations and brackets in the first place, but it really comes down to your own comfort level with tools. As a side note, the main thing on the electrical side is to run the air horn electrics in parallel, in other words, leave the original horn wired up and run the leads from it to the switch side of the relay. This will keep the CANbuss from throwing an error code. If you do go ahead, you will love it! It is LOUD!

do you need to remove the tank to get to the stock horn??

Dan, can you go into how you were able to do this without throwing a code? Thanks in advance

Well, I blithely went ahead and did it, on the theory that, from the bike's point of view, pushing the horn button engages the low-current side of the solenoid and the bike doesn't know that it's not a horn. The high current side is separate from the can-bus entirely, so no code is set. I made a drawing of the bracket to mount the horn if you thought you might want to make one of your own. I had to get some longer engine mount bolts to make up for the thickness of the bracket, as I didn't want to lose thread engagement. I suppose Denali will have a plug-n-play kit someday, but I don't know where they would mount the units. One other thing to know is that someone has suggested that it might be a problem installing sliders, since they use the same mounting point. I'll figure that out when that time comes.

Dan, the surface that you have the compressor mounted to, did you take that apart and use a short fastener or did you dill thru the whole thing. Not sure what is in there. Did you consider mounting the horn on the other side of that square shaped part. Also, you should check your fb I messaged you and invited you to check out Superduke 1290 GT Owners and Superduke Carnage

If you could post a picture of the horn bracket and the compressor bracket that would be very helpful

Sorry for the delay; I've been having a few fights with my computer. Here's a link to the photos I took of the installation. www.flickr.com/photos/10784892@N05/albums/72157682533891015

Hi Dan. Any chance of my purchasing a bracket from you? I too have a GT. I bought a bracket from a company who claimed it would fit and it does not.

I just made it out of a piece of aluminum angle. I am a fabricator, but don't do much outside work. Would the info I have on my Flickr page help? flic.kr/s/aHskXP9ofT

Hi Dan -- thx for posting the video. Per the previous comment, did installing a replay switch prevent throwing a code? And where did you ground the new setup? Appreciated!
@360Crank7 жыл бұрын
Wow. Sorry I missed these comments. (I really should pay better attention ;-). So, codes were thrown. If it's a short blast, the CAN buss doesn't seem to notice, but it set a general fault when I used it for real. Reset when the bike was shut off and restarted however. Denali says they're working on a fix for KTMs. Here's the text from their reply 15-09-17: "Hi Dan, Our design dept is working on a CANsmart for KTM. They are telling me perhaps next Spring. There is a work around- if you leave the stock horn in the bike, use our plug-n-play wiring harness, and trigger the Soundbomb with the stock horn, it will sound both horns and not throw a code. Leaving the stock horn in "fools' the canbus because it does not "see" a different voltage draw. The stock horn triggers the SB and both horns beep. Thanks and ride safe, "
