Too bad you couldn’t hear my reaction when you lifted the black paper from the glass plates!!! Love the results you got. I first saw Shannon Green do this a couple years ago. I made the glass plates and edged with the duck tape and loved the results. I have used all my prints, and forgotten how much I enjoyed the process. I will have to use something other than the glass because I did not store them properly and they broke. Seeing your experiments I now have lots of alternatives!!!! Thank you so much for this lovely idea. The internet in my neighborhood has been off and on all month. They can’t seem to find the problem. While we had service this A.M. I am going to binge! LOL. TFS. I did. God bless and stay safe.

Hi Nina! I have been able to fairly control the dendritic process to create birds, butterflies and dragonflies. I create art with these and sell the cards at a local shop. I appreciate that you tried various materials/surfaces. They all have some qualities and obviously some work better than others but I think (for example) bendy, soft 'sheets' will create different fractals than rigid sheets - like cling film or polythene (bag) compared to perspex, plexiglass or glass! (Not sure if cling film could be used in this technique but you never know..) Also the type, make and viscosity of paint, amount of added water or medium etc. can all contribute to the process and finished effect. Oh, and can't forget the paper or card used to take the print - and the pressure applied to get the print. So much to experiment with. Really interesting and exciting stuff to delve into. Thanks so much for your video on this! (Sorry - I'm off on a creative buzz now!) :o) note: artist Max Ernst used dendritic painting along with frottage and other techniques to create some magical works!

Question.. I'm not having much success. I think it is my cardstock. Should I be using the heavier stock? Mixed media paper? I sandwiched glass and also hard plastic.
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kim, it should work with any type of smooth paper or cardstock, but mixed media paper might be a bit too textured. You need to squish the glass or hard plastic together so the pattern is formed when you pull the plates apart. You need to lay the paper on the glass or plastic and rub over the card/paper very gently, otherwise you will flatten the pattern that was formed. I hope that helps 💕
