I have seen many patients of dengue in this season, hardly 10% of them had cough and cold. Most common symptoms are high grade fever, bodyache, headech and vomiting intially, later pt can come with abdominal pain, rash and severe weakness.

1. A dengue surveillance system found that 35-38% of laboratory-positive dengue patients had sore throat, cough and nasal congestion[1]. 2. In a study from Bangladesh in 2022, among dengue patients: - 41.2% presented with cough - 16.9% had dyspnea (shortness of breath) - 5.2% had sore throat[7] 3. Doctors in Rajasthan, India reported that 6 out of 10 (60%) dengue patients were showing symptoms of cold, cough and fever[2]. 4. Some doctors noted that more than 50% of cases with cold, cough and fever symptoms were testing positive for dengue[2]. 5. Cold and cough symptoms in dengue patients typically vanish within 2-3 days, compared to 5+ days in simple viral fever[2]. While the exact proportions vary across studies and regions, it appears that a significant percentage of dengue patients (ranging from about 35-60%) may present with cold and cough symptoms. However, these respiratory symptoms are not among the classic signs of dengue, and their presence can make initial clinical diagnosis challenging. Doctors are advised to consider dengue testing even in cases presenting primarily with cold and cough, especially in endemic areas during dengue season.
