Unimpressed with Speilberg's spin on this story. Actor playing Ir ving had shadows playing across his face in an apparent attempt to make him look sinister. Actor playing Ir ving has an odd shaped unattractive face , whereas Ir ving has classical handsome looks. Actress playing Li ps tad t has a face which is easy on the eyes, very easy. Whereas Li ps tad t has a face, well, you can make up your own mind, suffice to say, Actress is prettier than the real character she is portraying. To me, Speilberg was using movie making tricks to present Ir ving as a sinister, shadowy untrustworthy character whilst present Deb in the best possible light. Ir vings expression, 'traditional enemies of freedom of speech' may well be applicable with this movie.

@@GW_01 No, it's about the craft of a historian. The reason Irving lost the trial was because it was proven over and over again that he did not use historical evidence properly and objectively. This violates the essence of what historians do and how they handle the past. It was a product of the fact that he was not a properly trained historian and was not engaging in the kind of careful methods that one finds in the academy. Another very important part of academia is peer review. It is rigorous and keeps the standards very high, as they should be. Irving, and others like him, don't stand up to such scrutiny.
@NANA-qd8wz3 жыл бұрын
After he lost this case Irving was required to pay the trial costs. He was driven into bankruptcy and lost his house. Did you miss the part where Richard Evans and two of his Phd students spent months going through Irving's work with a fine toothed comb before the trial? The whole reason he was humiliated was because serious historians checked his footnotes thoroughly for the first time. In what way did this "misrepresent" him? After a microscopic examination they found he selectively quoted, mistranslated, used forged documents, and ignored contrary evidence. Which is hardly surprising really given that the evidence for the Holocaust is so overwhelming that no reasonable person could look at it and deny it unless they already had their own preconceived conclusion.
