There's so much to lupus my dear. The medications are a hit or miss. The referral to the ophthalmologist is a standard procedure. It is not a basic test that is required. The ophthalmologist is aware of the required tests. HCQ can cause blindness so if you have any issues prior, it wont be prescribed. The drug you mentioned is probably Methotrexate. The doctor has to be certain you are not pregnant and is using some form of birth control. You need to settle on a medication asap so can reduce flares. Its a long journey and the sooner you start, the better. All the best
