i was at anfield in 1969 and we won 4-1 the holy trinity played that day and it was 36 years before another team scored 4 there what a memory 3 ballon dor players in the side few players whereas good as the lawman dribbling shooting both feet fantastic heading ability 18 hatricks on pitches like that and me my dad and friend parked up and walked through the park paid at the stand at the side near the kop im 68 now and that performance today was an insult to his memory i walked out in disgust when the 3rd went in my father went to anfield a lot in the sixties and said the kop where the most knowlegable fans and appreciated skill when they saw it and the great Bill shankley who managed him at huddersfield he could walk on water and the liverpool board at the time couldnt afford the fee wich he was annoyed about and a lovely story was when liverpool got to the cup final in 1965 he lent is liverpool supporter friend is mk 2 jag so they could go in style to wembley and win the cup for the first time against leeds the club is sadly a mess now britains richest man has seen to we are just customers now seats to anyone who will pay the price thousands of half and half scarves for sale near the memorial the game has been ruined by money men and sheiks i will probably walk away now if it becomes 66 pounds a game sad state of affairs all the best ❤

He was my Dad's favourite along with the other King of the '60s ( Pelé ). To think that United fans nicknamed him ' The King ' over the likes of Charlton and Best, shows firstly how great a player he was but also how much he was loved. I still regard him as the best Scottish player of all time, with respect to King Kenny!
@tt99football5612 күн бұрын
@a_guinness It really does show that, he must have stood out even against players like Best & Charlton.

May 1st 1971 Blackpool play Man Utd in the league, Jimmy Armfields last ever game for Blackpool - my first ever live football match. My Liverpool supporting dad had taken me to watch 'one of the best ever footballers' play his last game... he had some how forgotten about the Trinity and when we got home I told him, 'I can no longer support your team dad.. sorry.. I've just seen the best three footballers ever, Best, Law and Charlton.. I'm now a Man Utd fan'! I was Seven at the time. The Trinity are now back together, RIP gentlemen, you gave so many people so many amazing memories!

Love this guy. Denis Law a God amongst footballers. Huddersfield Town ‘discovered’ him, developed him paid for surgery to sort out his squint and then sold him for a record fee which paid for the floodlights. They blew down in the wind next season while Denis went on to be an absolute superstar. Yet he never forgot his roots in Aberdeen or the club that discovered’ him coming back in the early twenty-first century to aid the campaign when they were bust. Great, great man!

He was quite right though, much as we loved him here as a national hero (not my favourite person at team level obviously), who would have guessed he would be chosen over Puskas, Eusabio, Di Stefano etc, names even us British schoolboys knew and hero worshipped, as if they were gods from another galaxy.

It has always been called the Ballon d’Or. It was created by France Football magazine in the 1950s and that is what they named it. English language media chose not to refer to it that way

The warm tingle you get as a Great talks about other Greats you'll not get in the near future as you discuss the cheating whingers of today, which is a crying shame. It used to be a wonderful game, R.I.P Denis..

Shame on Man United for that abysmal display, on the same day Old Trafford celebrated a true Old Trafford legend's passing. The United of today, are not fit to wear the jersey, but Mr Law certainly deserved to wear it.
