What are those that start to show at 0:10?
@hendersonwynn9922Ай бұрын
I believe it’s a Pinstripe Damba Cichlid (Paretroplus menarambo).

These are easily my 2nd favorite aquarium fish. I have 25 of them in my 8 foot 240 gallon tank. I definitely agree with the 6 foot tank recommendation. My largest one is 6 1/2 inches long with all the others not far behind, so I couldn’t imagine them darting around in a 4 foot tank. They’re crazy fast and they also never stop moving. A 5 foot tank might be fine but you almost never see those anyway. As for the wild-caught vs captive bred, one way I’ve pretty much figured out that my stores have been carrying captive bred ones is the fact that I’ve been noticing that some are often deformed, which tells me they’re probably being inbred too so I’ve found myself picking out the ones that look the best without deformities at fish stores. Still not sure where some of my other ones came from though since I got them from private individuals in fish rehoming FB groups. Mine are not all that skittish. I can stick my camera in their faces and they don’t care, and they follow me when I walk by, probably due to me having them in a huge tank in a big school.

Wow 25 in a 240g! That'd be a dream setup for me. Congrats!

@@Riffwaters yep it’s a big super school. I wasn’t even planning on keeping that many. The last batch I got, I was planning to surprise one of my local fish store owners with them for his display tank but when I went to the rehomer’s house and saw how big they were, I was like “Oooh I’m keeping these”

Do you know if they can talorat salanity? I used to add some salt to my freshwater aquarium, but since i got them, i hesitate to add salt Thanks
@Riffwaters3 ай бұрын
@@faditu2781 they're fine with occasional treatments of aquarium salt (pure sodium chloride), if that's what you mean. But I wouldn't keep them in salinity permanently, nor would I use marine salt.

Just wondering what the black spotted fish are called.
@Riffwaters5 ай бұрын
@@johns1620 Hi. They are Paratilapia sp. Marolambo. Common name Starry Night Cichlid, which includes a few different species in that genus.

@@slickchick5811 do you mean the turquoise fish with the red trimmed fins? Might look pink. Those are Paretroplus menarambo.

Such a pity they grow so big, these pictured will outgrow this tank then? Having said this I've never seen one five inches, max around three inches? "Trade secrete" no longer, commercial breeding farms have had huge success with hormone treatments to breed these in huge numbers, there is now also a xanthic form which is truly stunning in bright yellow and red and every bit as hardy as the normal Denison barb.

Don't take it personally, but have you thought about setting up a non american style tank? Us tank setup culture is the most plain there can be. It's barely above the goldfish bowl. Checkout other countries scaping channels?
@Bota812Ай бұрын
If you start with 'don't take it personally...' you're getting personal. You don't like his 'scape that's fine but it's HIS. You doing better? Start a channel and put up - or shut up.
