Dear Daniel: It's always a pleasure to see the progress of your, terrific tanks. This one is particularly stunning with the black background; lush plants; natural decor; clear water; little or no algae; and, colorful, happy, healthy animals. This fish, Sahyadria denisonii, is a particularly attractive addition to your set-up. Thank you for sharing, another, interesting and enjoyable, species profile. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. They are beautiful managed to grab 4 for half price when shop was moving but they are expensive here in Australia at $65 each which obviously makes getting a group costly especially as hard to breed but I do love them.
@DanielKeepingFish3 жыл бұрын
Wow that's even more expensive than here. Yeah it's not a lot when you think how long you're going to have them and enjoy them but it's definitely a lot to lay out up front. At least you have the ones you've already got to enjoy. We're pretty lucky in that regard.
@stephengoodfield25303 жыл бұрын

Thank you very much for saying so. Really does feel great to hear somebody has enjoyed a video. So that's an Apistogramna Macmasteri Gold. The are very similar to Apistogramna Viejita. Both are really nice.
@1domcouk3 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel. Meant to ask you. If you keep a covering of Tropica substrate under your gravel for the plants, do you still need to give your plants fertiliser? Thanks for any advice.@@DanielKeepingFish
@DanielKeepingFish3 жыл бұрын
@@1domcouk i find it gives the root plants a right good start. They may need some help eventually though. I'd just keep an eye on them and if you feel at any point they're not flourishing as they were consider adding some root tabs. That's just for the root plants. For any plants that take their nutrition from the water column it will help them to dose liquid fertilisers. As for which kind and how much everybody's tank is different. I've been using TNC complete and TNC lite recently (half and half mixed). I normally start with half the recommended dose and build up if I think it's necessary. Better to build up than have excess nutrients in the water. Remember you may need to adjust as you plants become bigger and more established. Remember that all goes hand in hand with dialling in how long you leave your lights on and being consistent with that and routine maintenance including consistent water changes. Adding life to your tank (fish and snails mostly) will also have an impact (feeding more, more waste). Hope that helps.

I’ve had mine for 4 months now in an uncovered tank. They are not skiddish at all and they do not jump.
@DanielKeepingFish2 жыл бұрын
I'm real glad to hear that's working well for you. Bet you're enjoying them they're great fish hey. They definitely have the potential to jump and there's a few reasons why the might. I've seen fish jump out of tanks trying to catch insects and of course if they get suddenly spooked. I have little people here that can be noisy and unpredictable and also teenagers who think the only way to shut a door is by slamming it haha.. Maybe the difference, if your environment is much calmer than mine that would have an impact on the fish's mood and their likeliness to take flight I'm sure.
@kaisoisla2 жыл бұрын
@@DanielKeepingFish yes you are so right. those are sensible factors as to why they would jump or be skiddish. I live alone and my house is always calm with not much activity at all so maybe that’s why. And yes I am enjoying them very much. They always keep me intrigued by their behavior and their color palette is so beautiful

i want to use a tank with no lid because i keep archers,so how far can i drop the water so they cant jump out
@DanielKeepingFish2 жыл бұрын
They're pretty good jumpers bud partly because they're so quick they leave the water at such high speed. I had one take a flight and try to jump when I was doing my water changes last week. It hit the bucket and landed back in the tank but had it not been there it would have clearer the edge of the tank and the water was already about six inches lower than the top. Don't get me wrong, someone commented they keep these in an open top tank and they've never jumped so I'm not saying they do it constantly but they definitely have the potential. I'd say you'd need to drop the water no less than eight inches but I'm not guaranteeing that's enough for them not to be able to make it still.

@DanielKeepingFish3 жыл бұрын
Um, I've never done it but I would say it would be okay. The Roselines are big enough and quick enough to stick up for themselves or get out of the way. I would make sure you have enough Tiger Barb so that they establish their own hierarchy and keep any squabbling between them. That will definately help to make it more successful.

Woa, I knew prices for some things are quite inflated over there but that's unreal. I did a quick conversion there, works out at £30. I saw some in a fish store at £7 each the other day. I suppose working it out by the enjoyment you'll get out of them over a few years it is worth it but a heavy amount to fork out to get a group in the beginning.

Tricky one that. I mean I keep them with Acara and Rainbow Cichlid fine bit I've never kept them with anything more aggressive like Jack Dempseys. Theoretically they're pretty quick and nimble so I'd guess they'd be okay but having not actually tried it I wouldn't want to guarantee it myself.
