Cool! An '80s precursor to RZ, Zodiac Mindwarp, covered this. White Zombie covered "I'm Your Boogie Man", but I always thought that KC and the Sunshine Band's "That's the Way I Like It" could've been just as cool. It's inherently heavier, musically.

Ahhh... i see your mistake there, you see you needed to be imagining you were an undead zombie axe murderer with a chainsaw fitted with axes instead of a chain, making out with draculas's mom... while laughing meniacly and driving down the highway in a hotrod that was on fire, with the radio too loud vibing to the tunes, as you chase a nun on a bicycle during a full moon in a thunder storm when designing the music arrangement and phrased your vocals to be a true Rob Zombie tribute... I am sure you will get it right the next time around.. 🤘

I really like this rendition, but I'm not really hearing Rob Zombie here. The vocals were mostly at 10 all the way through, but he has a lot more variation in his vocal level and style Maybe try spoken sections, with an AM radio or vinyl style distortion next time you're going for Zombie. Still a cool track!

Pretty sure I said "What if Motorhead wrote Born To Be Wild" but this will do. Fun Fact: Steppenwolf are Canadians, they started out as a Led Zeppelin/Yardbirds clone called The Sparrows but they were going nowhere and on the verge of giving up on the music industry altogether when in 1967, as a last ditch attempt to stay together as a band, they bought motorcycles aka heavy metal thunder and took a road trip to LA to make an album. When they got there everyone said "Change the image and band name" and the biker band Steppenwolf was born, to be wild.
@lesschoenberger30704 ай бұрын
The Sparrow were a great band, left Toronto to try New York, San Francisco and LA, but they couldn't break through so they disbanded while in California. Gabriel Mekler who was a producer for ABC Dunhill moved in next to John Kay, liked what he heard from the Sparrow tapes, encouraged John to get a band together again and the name "Steppenwolf" was suggested as Mekler had just read the book. And contrary to what people believe or want to believe the song was not written about motorcycles, it was actually written about a Ford Falcon car that Mars Bonfire had bought and loved the freedom that it brought him, there is a video on KZbin about it. He saw an ad with a cycle coming out of the ground and it said "born to ride" and he just took off from there. John Kay has never ridden a motorcycle in his life, he is legally blind and extremely light sensitive. The band when asked by fans "what kind of bike does John have?" used to say "oh, he has lots of them", but he has none and he'll tell you so!
