Something that I think has gone under the radar a bit is the brilliant performance by England’s bowlers in this test. Firstly, they vindicated Root’s decision to bowl by restricting Australia to 179 in the first innings. Then having been given only 27 overs rest by England’s pitiful first innings they came out and bowled Australia out for 246, giving England a target that is at the very least within the realms of possibility. That’s no mean feat considering how tired they must have been.
