U have to curve the brush when your going through your hair. I recommend watching chellis curls here on KZbin. She swears by the denman brush and shows u how to properly use it to get the really defined and bouncy curls you want.
@Lilypad7185 жыл бұрын
When you use the denman brush don’t brush it straight down.....brush it towards the side and up. Manes by mell has a great styling video where she does the dos and don’t of styling and she mentions how to properly use the denman brush and it’s a game changer. As always still love your videos and your length is everything. Your hair looks so thick too despite losing some of your edges. My postpartum shedding was so bad that I cried every time I showered. Now I use oils before bed and in the am by Curlsmith, take collagen peptides, biotin, and msm (when I remember). My hair is finally looking like something. My hair is so fine. Can you do a video on curl Plumpers when you compare them to each other to see what plumps our curls the best?
@DiscoCurls5 жыл бұрын
That is a great video topic Leslie! Thank you for the brush tips also. Like I said, I was feeling spontaneous and just started brushing away LOL. I'm definitely going to do a follow up video on the denman brush once I master it. I just subscribed to Manes by Mell not too long ago. She's awesome! I've never tried Curlsmith but really want to. I also don't take collagen but might add that to my vitamin regimen. Currently taking nothing because I'm tired in the trenches of motherhood! LOL.

In order to see the denman magic, you need to kind of "twirl" the brush at the end aaaaand do it in sections, not just brush all your hair at the same time. Then you shake and that is when the clumps come. You can see Danny C first wash n go to see what I mean. She was one of the first to use this technique and it really works. Doing it in sections helps with the volume too,I have thinner hair than you and it works like a charm. I hope that helps.😊❤
@DiscoCurls5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that nugget of information! I definitely know better and should have done it in sections but you could see on my face that I was surprised too LOL. I will check out Danny C at some point. I feel like I've heard about this a long time ago in some of the salons I used to go to but you just reminded me when you said that.

OMG watching this video confirmed me what I just say last week after brushing my hair with the Denman brush my hair came out shorter and curlier. same thing that just happened on this video. I have coarse 2c 3a hair and use a Denman brush knock off - use it after I apply my leave in in the shower- add a little curl cream to super dry areas then use the brush in sections lifting it to the side away from my head, shake the curl and let it go. Takes about 10 minutes but gives me pretty curls and keeps the process consistent. I put gel in after I finish using the praying hands method and then scrunch with a T-shirt. Works for me. You have pretty hair- whatever you’re doing seems to be working for you!

I bought the classic 7-row denman as well as the little 5-row denman. The 5-row is a short mini brush that does not come apart. Still works the same as far as curling! My hair is very short though, so that makes a difference. If it were long, the 7-row normal size brush would be the best choice.

Call me silly, but I was so excited to see this video. My cousin just had her baby, i.e. she is going trough the same issues as you and has an identical hair type/curl pattern as well. Lucky me (ha!) is in the process of "re-training" her curls. Here's the routine: pre-poo, cleanse, condition, up in the towel/t-shirt, leave-in conditioner, curl cream, then in *small* sections - going from the scalp upwards (yes, hair in the air) - use the Denman brush, then a liquidy gel glided in followed by some scrunching or finger coiling. All the while adding enough water (spray bottle, of course) to keep the hair evenly saturated but not dripping. Your hair looks fantastic from a slight whack with the d-brush, so I think this might really pop your curls & add moisture💜💜💜

@DiscoCurls5 жыл бұрын
Wow, I have so many questions. My only recent product from them is the styling cream but my other products are probably a year old. Can I ask when you last bought them? I just want to know if this is a more recent batch or something. I've never had a problem with hair loss and balding from their products. The hair loss I'm experiencing now is postpartum shedding, I just stopped nursing a couple months ago. Plus, I really need a haircut. I've also had traction alopecia for 15 years from wearing a weave. I'm 40, hormonal, and have a vitamin D deficiency so if I don't stay on top of my diet and supplements my hair changes, sheds, and my edges diminish. I am interested to know a few things if you don't mind sharing. Definitely not to discredit what you're saying. Just curious. 1. Is your hair colored, chemically treated, or damaged? (It doesn't look like it from your profile, just curious) 2. Are you experiencing any hormonal changes? 3. Do you have any vitamin deficiencies? 4. When did you buy the products and which ones? I hope I'm not being too intrusive, I genuinely just want to know more.

@@DiscoCurls I'm glad if I can help but all hair is different and so are our susceptibilities to products. I've tried Deva shampoo and conditioner decadence last year in the UK and first wash I had impressive shedding but since I was in a different country I thought it was the water and continued using. Since the brand is quite expensive I did not continue and also moved back. Just recently with the raving about deva I bought the low-poo delight line and also the ultra defining gel, but first wash I had LOTS of shedding, unusual. I think I used this 3 times but it was impressive the shedding and breaking continuously!!! Got a bit scared and so I binned the whole 900ml full bottle. Since I have low porosity hair the gel was so really drying my hair. I used to use the super cream and it was OK but on the safe side I've just stopped completely with Deva. I'm 44, take supplements omegas, vitaD and back in the UK for a while now. You are right when I had my son my hair changed completely it was quite fine but at the time I was not using any products in my hair...it was 12 yrs ago though :). Since I have very sensitive scalp I mostly tend to keep away from diadozynil urea, formaldehyde, DMDM hydantoin these are proven to cause allergies or cancer, even at low concentrations! I'm still trying to find a shampoo that leaves my hair moisturised and does not break the bank. I'm OK with the JCS RENEWABLE DIFFERENCE - DETOX SHAMPOO and the AS I AM pudding shampoo. for styling...still on the search but CRN butter gel is quite good (just use a tiny bit but it is really moisturising). I have very little shedding in the shower and although my hair is quite dry it does not break easily and it is getting back to its shape! I know it's tricky, when there are too many variables but perhaps try to stop Deva for the next 3-4 months and see if you see any difference in density and/or shedding. For me it was immediate it was easy to identify the cause, my hair shed in and outside the shower and it was breaking a lot when using Deva products! gosh, long msg!! Hope it helps and very best wishes.

I like both sides. The denman gives me crazy shrinkage. But i like it for spot definition for areas that arent clumping. And for straight hair. For detangling i like the wide tooth comb. I do leave my spikes in. But if you had a tighter curl pattern i would say take a few spikes out to prevent tangling and breakage, and too much shrinkage on a tighter pattern.

Beautiful curls be careful with deva products a lot of people are experiencing hair loss Lorraine sold the co. and they changed the ingredients I was just talking to my hairdresser yesterday about it there is a hairdresser (blogger) that lost a lot of hair just research it

Thank you for saying this. I hadn't heard people were having hair loss. I have some deva products that I've had for awhile, but even if they were from before the ingredient change I'm not sure I want to use them anymore.

Thanks Jackie! I know exactly who you're talking about because I just started watching her too. Lorraine sold the company a really long time ago I believe and I never had a problem with hair loss after her absence. I also don't stick to one brand ever so I'm really not sure.

I can't with the Denman brush. It's so hard on my hair. I get the same definition from the tangle teazer without the breakage.
@DiscoCurls5 жыл бұрын
Does it clump like the denman does? Very curious. Also which tangle teazer do you have?
@Epiphanystone5 жыл бұрын
@@DiscoCurls it clumps like a dream. I use one at work in the salon too. Curly kids love them because they don't pull.

Stop promoting Devacurl....it would be a blunder to use it....

I use it for some time now. I'm still not sure how to use it. My hair is mix od straight, 2b and 3A 😭😭😭. It just won't listen to me. I've been on this journey for one year + 2 months. But your videos are the ones I like the most. I'm fine hair, mid density and I almost 100%< sure my hair loves protein. I'm doing mayonnaise hair mask every week. I'll be trying to introduce silk and weat protein, together with gelatin, and see if that will make any difference. Anyhow Ty, you have very nice and calm personality. Loving your videos

First, thank you for watching! Having multiple curl types is TOTALLY normal. I have them too. In fact my hair changed again with each baby. I still need to figure out if my hair loves protein so I should probably do a video on that. I think it might. Are you using just straight mayonaise? I can't stand the smell but might try it anyway lol.

Your using it wrong! The brush is actually awesome when used correctly.

Yes..I realize that as I mentioned this was the first time using it. I will be updating everyone once I get it down.
