Thank you so much for this tip! I have very low-density hair and creating thicker clumps has made me painfully aware of how much of my scalp shows through. I tried this comb method this week and I'm overjoyed: lots and lots of curls and much, much less scalp showing through. Hurrah!

I appreciate that you also can't have both tons of volume and super defined curls. I am the same. I normally sacrifice some definition for volume too!

My mom used to define my ringlets with a comb many moons ago...excited to try this next wash day, as the denman leaves my hair without volume too! This tutorial was not only super fun and informative, but I could feel how much love you put into everything you do. Grateful you’re back with more YT content 💕

I agree with you on denman brush. I have been wondering why I am not getting the volume when I use it but yes, certainly the definition! I am glad to learn that you had the similar issue and it's just not me. I get good volume with wide tooth comb. I have never used the regular comb. But my curls are bit tighter and I have thick hair as well. Thanks for this video.
@maha13184 жыл бұрын
I stopped using the denman brush about a month ago. I now only use a wide tooth comb to style my hair, it doesn't give the best definition but it's so quick and convenient I don't think i will ever go back to the denman brush. I also love how it doesn't shrink my curls as much as other styling techniques.

My hair loves to clump back up too! I have been doing more vertical sections with the denman around my head. Then the top of my head in horizontal sections. I feel like i end up with a lot less massive curls by day 3 than just horizontal. I will have to try with a comb as well!

I have 2c-3a curl pattern (I think), and I tried to use the deman brush to help my definition and curl clumping and it pulled most of my curl out. Would this comb method be better for me? Or do you have any other ideas for me. Low porosity medium density hair as well.
@rachellep25813 жыл бұрын
Try removing every second row from your denman. I think your problem it technique the denman takes awhile to master. Think of how you would make a ribbon curl with a blade. Use the spine of the denman as your metaphorical blade and apply a small amount of pressure and pull away from head and down the hair, shake and scrunch.

I have the same looser curls as you except I have a higher density/ thicker hair. I don’t get a lot of root volume which is what I’m trying to work on. I feel like it all depends on the wash day for me sometimes I want the super definition and sometimes the volume I wish I could have both but it never seems to happen that way. 😭 haha. Your hair looks so pretty, especially on the second try. Also your makeup is really nice. My hair is so fine and flyaway that my clumps are very skinny and don't look like clumps. I don't like the 'curling brushes' like denmon. They stress me out and they pull my hair too much due to it's fineness. So, I might try the comb method that you are sharing with us. Thanks a lot. Glad you are sharing videos again.

What products did you use for day 2 hair, when you used the wide tooth comb? Thanks
@sillytubeify4 жыл бұрын
My hair is slightly curlier than yours but it goes in 1 million different curls it does not clump very easily. I’ve been finger coiling my hair in the directions that I want because it goes wherever I want it to but if I let it naturally curl I wonder if the curls would get tighter over time once they found their new curl pattern? Because when I finger curl they seem tighter.I’m down to just four products shampoo and conditioner Aleve in and a gel which is so much better than eight products are used to use. I did however have to get a prescription shampoo to fix what diva curl did to my scalp it was peeling and bloody and would not go back to normal for a year but now I’m flake free and I’m loving my curls I wish you could see the picturee
@JannelleOShaughnessy4 жыл бұрын
If you'd like to share pictures youre welcome to send them to me on Instagram!!!! I am really glad to hear your scalp is doing better. I can't imagine how frustrating and painful that must have been. Curls definitely do tend to naturally define more the healthier they get. Also the cut can play a factor into it too. I find that if i have too many layers in my hair for example some areas of my hair tend to straighten out etc. A tip I can also offer is to try the bowl method if you haven't already. that gives me some of the best definition ever. I have a tutorial on my page!

Can’t find anyone w similar hair. It’s low porosity & I have sooo much hair. Medium thickness.. I don’t have any extra volume when I style upside down. But when I clump hair this way, I flip over. And have a rats nest look where the clumps were together a certain way & the roots just look like wet hair teased into cowlicks. 🤨 Watched 500 videos & everyone else’s hair just slides right into position.. Using denman my hair goes straight & stringy. I don’t understand what is wrong w my hair. I must be the only one 😫
