You mention Bakken and Tivoli.....and their names pop up over Juthland aprox on the location of Århus on your map....I am not sure if you wanted to point out the location of the place with your markers, but Copehnagen is located on Sjælland to the far east and that is also where Bakken and Tivoli is....Tivoli right in the center of Copenhagen

bakken and tivoli is in kbh. bonbon land on sjælland.. Fyn the middel island got danmarks biggest zoo. and exotic animals here and there and odense is hometown of H.C Andersen. tivoli friheden is aarhus tivoli.and a little up of aarhus you got djurs sommerland and .givskud zootopia a drive in animal park .. all in jylland. then there is legoland also in jylland. and we got 2 waterparks aswell. 1 sjælland and 1 jylland .. lalandia... and we got lots more then only those big thing ALOT more. thes is just a little handfull of whats in denmark

Isn't Aarhus to the south and Randers to the north of Djursland? If so it was at the location of Randers they placed Dyrehavsbakken. But OK, it's a long way to Tipperary so who freaking cares?

Some clarifications and trivia: 1. Danish language does not have a singular word that directly translates from "please", but structuring phrases with a combination of a few words to achieve the same meaning exists and are used to the same degree and frequency. For example the phrase "bede om" literally translates to "beg for", but in common speech it holds the same value and intention as "please" in the context of requesting something from someone. There are dozens of ways to achieve this meaning with different words for a generally more nuanced depiction of what you are asking for, whereas "please" is a less nuanced all-encompassing word that simplifies things a lot, but also loses some of the depth. 2. The Y in "Hygge" is pronounced pretty similar to Ü in German. But definitely not as "U" :D 3. The "Danish", known here as Wienerbrød (Viennese bread), has a more complex story than that. There was a time many decades ago where Danish bakers went on a strike, and to fill the demand a lot of Viennese bakers were hired to fill the gap. These bakers brought with them their local dishes. After the strike, the Danish bakers took note of the Viennese pastries, and evolved the recipes to what they are today. So it is more of a Danish-Viennese collaboration, but they are called Viennese bread to give credit to the original inspiration for the derived Danish recipes. If you visit Denmark and ask for a "Danish", nobody will know what you mean. This is a foreign concept that we have no part in :D 4. "Bakken" translates to "The hill", and quite literally is a hill within the national forest of "Dyrehavsbakken", in the outskirts of Copenhagen (easily accessible by train). It used to be a place where merchants and amusement vendors would set up their shops and people would visit to buy things and have a good time. With time, it grew into a more established location and would offer a full-time experience for visitors and tourists to this day. This is also why all the individual stands and fairs are still privately owned to this day, and the whole place is free to visit (but tour bands are paid ofc). In comparison, Tivoli is a paid-to-enter amusement park that runs the land and decides what changes are made etc. 5. "Pølse" just means sausage. It's not really what the hotdogs are called, it's just the term that is used for all sausage-related food similar to hotdogs sold at these stands. They will often be sold at a "Pølsevogn", meaning sausage cart, that will be set up in specific locations, but can be towed behind a car after closing hour. It's more of a specific location pop-up thing :) 6. Aragorn is Danish (Viggo Mortensen), and Scarlet Johansson is half Danish (from her Danish father), hence the Scandinavian surname. 7. Google Maps is originally a Danish technology, which in 2004 together with an Australian based team pitched the idea to Google and was acquired into their digital suite. 8. There are no mountains nor cliffs in Denmark, besides one single island named Bornholm (not counting Greenland and Faeroe islands). The former cliffs and rocky terrain was crushed by the glaciers of the last Ice age and left a mostly chalk, clay, and sand filled ground with hills and lakes. In comparison, Norway and Sweden are covered in large extend by mountains and cliffs.

A addendum on 6: a) Arnold Schwarzenegger's wife are born Danish. And don't forget Mr. Christensen and "old" villain from James Bond. b) Danish historiens do believe that Tolkien was smitten with Jutland, so he based Middle Earth on Djursland-Moesgaard area.

@@marieilbergjacobsen3061 Oh yes Tolkien was indeed very influenced by norse folklore as he was retelling his imagination of fantastical English tales (as was his goal, since England had no grand tales and myths to speak of, so he drew from nordic influence on old English lands). Middle-Earth is a direct equivalent to "Midgaard", aka the land of men in norse mythology. And he drew influence form the lands, marshes, and canals of Jutland (among other places).

So exactly the same as what you said. Yes Møn and Stævns klint are "cliffs", but they're not what's commonly considered a rocky cliff, rather they're based entirely in mineral soil mix of clay, chalk, etc. Not actual rock formations. I am not sure if the distinction between "klippe" and "Klint" exist in English. Probably there is a more specific geological definition for both. What I meant specifically was "there are no rocky cliffs". 2. When I specified Scarlet Johansson being half Danish, it was more so in the sense that she didn't grow up and live in Danish culture, yet still has direct ties to Danish lineage and actively displays fondness of that heritage and Denmark as a whole. Viggo on the other hand I simply see as a complete Dane (even if only one parent is Danish). I myself am "half" Danish but since I grew up here and have lived most of my life here, I would never consider myself anything but a full Dane, so to speak. So yea on that technicality ofc you're right, I could have worded my distinction better.

As a dane, i can point out small mistakes/misinformation, like the liberation of denmark was mostly completed may 4.th, but little island Bornholm was liberated in the 5th by the soviets, and thats why Denmark was partially under soviet occupation, and a little more on info about dannebrog and how it fell down fron the sky in a fight in Tallin. And you could also have mentioned the treaty of Roskilde, were Denmark lost Skåneland. And also, nice work and good luck being the succesor to Geography now

The name Dane has been known since the end of the 4th century, when people in the Ostrogothic kingdom with its center in Ravenna took an interest in them. The Danes appear in the Greek historian Prokopios (danoi), who emphasizes the height of the Danes, and in the Gothic historian Jordanes (dani). After that, it is found regularly in the sources, i.a. the Frankish sources. Both Canada and Denmark claim the island, as it could become important if a sea route is opened north of Canada to the Pacific Ocean. It is also suspected that there may be natural resources in the form of oil, gas and minerals in the area. After the disagreement broke out in the summer of 2005, the two countries entered into a ceasefire in the dispute and have since held a series of negotiation meetings on the matter. The island may have an impact on the maritime law conditions in the waters between Canada and Greenland, if future climate changes lead to increased navigation in the Northwest Passage and the Arctic Ocean. Since 1973, Denmark and Canada have been fighting over the uninhabited island. In 1984, the then Danish Minister of Greenland, Tom Høyem, decided that the Danish flag should be hoisted on the island. The "fighting action" is the same every time: the Canadians exchange the Danish flag with theirs and deposit it next to a bottle of whiskey. One funny thing the Danes are really aware of, is that there's a lot of difference in the way people act depending on if you're from Jylland (main island), Fyn (the "speedbump" - island towards Sjælland) or from Sjælland, which is where our capitol is. People from Sjælland are often more cocky than Jytlanders, who takes things more at ease :D

Two extremely important points in history for Denmark are also: The bombardment of Copenhagen in 1807 by the British. It’s the first ever bombardment of a civil population. After they took our fleet (which was one of the strongest at the time), and Denmark never recovered its former military strength. The second Schleswig war in 1864. The german army annihilated the danish army. From this point on, Denmark ran a much more isolationist foreign policy, and went from a medium power state to a small state.

Copenhagen is not in Jutland 🤣 Switch Bakken & Tivoli Gardens to Sjælland, where Copenhagen actually is...you know where the bridge connects to Sweden? You sort of forgot the island of Bornholm, in the Baltic. After May 9th, 1945, it was actually occupied by the Soviets, until April 5th, 1946! The Soviet Union wanted to keep it as an anchor and pathway out of the Baltic! Other than that, well done from a Dane!

Denmark having the oldest amusement park in the world called Bakken. Walt Disney visited Tivoli (the second oldest amusement park) in Copenhagen to get inspiration and ideas for how Disneyland should look like. Several times before the opening in 1955, Walt Disney Tivoli visited when he was very captivated by the mood and atmosphere in the amusement park in the middle of Copenhagen, which he would like to copy.

Fun fact: Many well known danish products have "purveyor to the royal danish court" written on it. For example Tuborg beer. But there is a second large brewery with more humour: Faxe (it is named after the town "Fakse", but spelled differently). They write "purveyor to the danish people" on their bottles.

Danish has no one word that cover all uses of English "please". That does not mean that that you do not need to be polite. In many cases we use "tak", meaning "thank you" where English would use" please". "Ja tak", "yes please". "Te eller kaffe? Te, tak". "Tea or coffee? Tea, please." In some cases you can use "venligst", literally "friendliest" but usually better translated "kindly". These days you often see it placed where "please" would go in an English sentence, which annoys many Danes. For example, you see absurdities like "Venligst luk døren". It should be "Luk venligst døren", literally "Close friendliest the door."

Your story is not correct. You have completely omitted that the Danish border went down to Hamburg in Germany. The whole part up to Kolling was lost when Bismark needed to train his army with France. Then in 1864 Denmark lost the war against Germany and 1/3 of the country. Even some of the best farmland. This meant an upheaval of the Danish self-understanding and of the slogan "What is lost outwards must be gained inwards". This meant that large parts of the peninsula of Jutland were made ready for the production of agricultural products. At the same time, they began to educate the lower part of the population so that they could read and write. Concentration thoughts began and grew. First with shops, Brugsen "so the working class could get cheap food so they made a profit for other activities. Since then agriculture became a cooperative movement and quality products were exported first to England then to Europe and now to the whole world. The Danes were brought up to democracy via When the employers and workers made their first agreement in 1899 where each party respected the other party, the foundation for modernized Denmark was laid. It was completed with the first major social reform and economic agreement among the political parties in 1933. Same day as Hitler took power in Germany, so Denmark began its welfare state the same day that Germany was heading for its downfall.

Denmark didn´t lost 1/3 of their country in 1864, cause Slesvig/Schleswig and Holstein was a part of the HRE and his follow state. yes, these two duchies was ruled by the danish King, but not as a part of Denmark. Thousand years before it was danish, but than they lost it against an east Franconian King King if i remember right. I don´t know how many danes or germans lived in Slesvig/Schleswig at 1864, but Holstein was mostly populated by germans.

@@shebschaf7608 Fun facts. It is just so strange that there was an opportunity to vote back to Denmark in a referendum in 1920. Here a number voted back to Denmark. The part that is today known as Southern Jutland. It runs from the town of Kolling to the current border. That reunification is to this day celebrated in Southern Jutland and is almost more important than Constitution Day. So yes. Denmark lost 1/3 of its territory and used under the slogan "What is lost outwards must be gained inwards" and began a cultivation of western Jutland. The lost war and the lost country is a national trauma that has taken root in the Danish soul.

Enjoyed this video and some of the captures of the value adds and gems of Denmark. I think it would have been interesting to talk about their multi party system, their social welfare system, and some of the other industries and sectors that give them economic positioning. Would have enjoyed its recognition of the companies Novo Nordisk and the Danish Design Center. A little on public transport--how Danes get by across all these islands would have been nice too. Overall thought, I thought the illustrations, narrations, and history were incredibly rich, unique, and informative. Denmark is one of my favorite countries, therefore Bravo. ❤ Look forward to your other videos!

The island under Sweden that you marked as Swedish is Danish. It's called Bornholm and is known as the most wonderful vacation island of Denmark. It's also the only place in Denmark where you can find a waterfall. When you mention the Tivoli garden, you say it is in the capital (and it is) but you place it in Jutland/Jylland when the capital is on Zealand/Sjælland (the eastern side of the country). - In Jutland there is an amusement park called Tivoli Friheden (Tivoli Freedom). - Bakken is also on Zealand/Sjælland Other things you could have mentioned: - A fun fact you could've used about Tivoli could've been that the amusement park was Walt Disney inspiration when he was developing Disney Land/world. - Janteloven/the law of jante is very much in the Danish culture. It basically means that you don't put yourself on a pedestal or treat others the way you want to be treated. - Denmark is one of the flattest countries in the world (no mountains). - In school we learn both English and German (some private schools teach French instead of German). - Education and health care are covered by taxes so the individual does not have to pay. - When you mentioned the battles between Denmark and Sweden, it would also have been relevant to mentioned the battles between Denmark and what we know as Germany today, because the two countries have fought for Jutland several times. There was a big battle in 1864, where Germany won most of Jutland. Denmark was only reunited with Jutland in 1920 an that reunion is celebrated every year. - From 1 January 2020, 74.3% of the population was registered as a member of the Danish Church (not 85%). - A good advice if you meet a Dane, never ask "how are you doing?" unless you're close, because it's a very personal question to ask.

In Denmark we do not have a word for "please", but it doesn't mean we don't have something similar. We say: if you would be so kind - that is the Danish "please" :) so instead of saying: pass me the salt, please - we say: pass me the salt, if you would be so kind :) One more fun fact: Denmark has the oldest still running steam powered ferry in the world, called Hjejlen(made in 1861) that runs on original spare parts. You can catch the ferry in Silkeborg, and sail to Himmelbjerget (Sky Mountain), which stands 147 m above sea level...Denmark being a pretty flat land, we Danes have to be happy with what we have LOL

One thing you missed is how literal they can be. Asking "How are you?" Is more of a invasion of privacy then it is a greeting. In America we say "How are you?" And reply with "Good" "Fine" and ask back. Danes take that question literally and will actually tell you how they are; like if their knee hurts they'll tell you that instead of the normal "Good."

I've always been in love with this Majestic land, for its beauty leaves you breathless. Great video! Another important war to mention is the war of 1864, where Denmark fought Prussia and Austria over the region Slesvig. DK suffered a humiliating defeat which, combined with having given Norway their independence in 1815 and losing our naval power to Britain in 1805, remodeled our perception of who we are - if we aren't a power to reckon with, then who are we? This led to our non-involvement in the world wars and our national identity - we are a small but "hyggelig" nation :)

And I'm at the time stance 3:43 when I see the exact Mosque in the video to my right. And I look at it and think "Nooo, surely not, right?" You listed the island of Bornholm in The Baltic Sea as being Swedish. Well, Bornholm is Danish so there is that. The Danish flag is called DANNEBROG. There is a little more to the history of Carlsberg. In reality, Carlsberg could have been dominating the beer industry worldwide completely as a monopoly. The reason is that Carlsberg developed the type of yeast for beer production that is used by all breweries in the world today. Back in the day, beer had a relatively low lifespan. The development of the yeast type from Carlsberg changed that and instead of keeping it to themselves, they freely gave the yeast spores to anyone who wanted it for free so all beer production around the world today is based on this yeast type.

I would like to mention that, as far as i know, Denmark has the oldest continuing royal family line, with the first Danish king and queen being Gorm the old and Thyra Dannebod, father and mother to King Harald Bluetooth. On that note, there is much speculation on why he was called bluetooth. The most common theory i notice is that he was obsessed with blueberries, which i find completely bonkers. I would much rather believe it was due to the colour of his teeth, which were black. Reasons for this was Vikings didnt have seperate names for blue and black. I would like to think it was due to them often looking over and into the ocean and seeing the two colours ''being the same''. Another reason being tales that suggest, in their first interaction, the vikings gave the African people the name 'The Blue Men'.
