Omg how many missed chances is that 😆 Greatest first touch ever in the history of the game. And the greatest player in PL history. Dennis Bergkamp.

I always SMH when people claim that players like Mahrez, Marcelo have the best first touch in football. Their first touch only allows them to bring the ball down in the same spot, whereas someone like Bergkamp used his first touch to beat players and progress forward instantly.

There are two elements to it: - the technique, and - the intelligence to think ahead and to know what to do before you get the ball. While some players have the technique maybe close to Bergkamp, those who have the intelligence to imagine in their head what they'll do before they get the ball, and think 2-3 steps ahead, are very very rare. You don't really have no one close to that nowadays.

@@siberianTiger639maybe start watching the game properly, the differences. Football is much tighter now, far less space. These matches from the 90s and 2000s are littered with teams occupying too high a lane and being non-existent in terms of pressure… you honestly can’t identify that ?
@siberianTiger6396 ай бұрын
@@CrashJC123 lol that's obvious, but that doesn't apply to Bergkamp much or to what I said. Most of great Bergkamp's first touches or moves were when he was under pressure with a player or more on him. He would do the same thing nowadays too.

He was a genuine maestro. We were so so lucky to have him, and had him at his very very best, too. Might be a bold comment, but if he got over his fear of flying, we’d have won a champions league.. we really missed him in Europe.

for sure. Almost a shame that he was in that ultra-defensive inter team in 2 of his peak physical years in the mid 90s.

How’s that a bold comment? Bergkamp was made for the big stage (CL). We would’ve definitely won one with him playing.

Would translate effortlessly into today’s game

Personally i think his overall play was the best in this season. Maybe not the best numbers but he was like mozart here. Everything came together. Still had dribble speed, exquisite touch and awareness what made him stood out without the dribbles.

So good you bring more of Bergkamp episodes that are not included in other’s videos. It only displays that his football mind was ahead of its time. Nowdays the sport became faster and demands more simple and practical attitude, what Bergkamp did in earlier times on the pitch

Hé came at the right time when the Prem was ready to appreciate talent and technique such as that. He and Cantona really stepped thé technical quality up. Shout out Le Tissier too even tho he préfères to score ridiculous goals at Southampton 😅.

How frustrating must it be when you do something sublime ie beat 3 guys or lovely touch to assist then your teammate misses a sitter at the end of it! Some player though 👏
