You think Thierry would have scored so many goals if he didn't have Dennis putting those throughballs to him? What makes him so unplayable is that if you get close you get turned on your ass and taken out the game or bypassed with an immediate first touch ball to a runner But if you stand off him he takes all the time in the world to let the players make even more runs and the defense had no way of knowing which run or angles to prioritize because we’d have about 3 players simultaneously running and you couldn’t tell who bergkamp would choose to release Then when you look at the quality of pass, he was probably the best passer of all time. It’s not just about seeing everything before it happened, but also it’s all about the way the ball quickly bypass the opposition then magically slows down into the runners stride for a first touch finish. MAGIC and genius equivalent of any classical painter, musician or scientist, just in a different discipline
