25 years later and this monologue is just as pertinent now as it was then. Incredible.

I discovered this show as a young teen when my family first got cable TV and got a free trial of HBO. I never gave a shit about news, politics, etc. Dennis made me laugh so much even if I didn't get all of the references. This show was definitely the blueprint for the daily show, only way better because it wasn't a gay little censored knockoff.

I never saw this great show when it was on. Really enjoying these posts, Chuck, thanx!! And I'm stealing that, "Fell down a flight of stairs carrying a tacklebox" line.

He mentions Tony Bennett, 25 years later , Bennett is barely hanging on, and is doing his final concert in a couple of days

As a millennial I'm actually quite surprised to hear that some of the same things that people say now about my generation were what they were also saying about gen-xers back then.

Every upcoming generation gets shit on from the older one. (I'm somewhere in between Gen. X and Boomer.) Just glad I didn't grow up Millennial. :-) Please chop the first 5 minutes. The remainder is PURE GOLD.

Indeed, WE decide what is good and moral in a society. As a perfect illustration: Russia Vs. America (or Canada). In Russia being gay is a serious offence. In North America, it’s not. We decide murder and rape is wrong but in other countries, women have less rights and rape is essentially legal. We don’t wish to be killed, so we make a rule against killing. Not to mention that no society has thrived that allows these things. It’s an evolutionary advantage. Nuff said.
