They don't make defenders like rodman anymore....
@david.tousignant20
@david.tousignant20 Жыл бұрын
@@abrahamhawkins1754 True and false at the same time. Today, there are versatile defenders who could defend every facet and positions during the same game. But now, it's even harder to defend due to two facets : 1) the pick and roll is the bread and butter of the game. Back then? Not used as much as today. 1.1 On almost every play, bigs are switching on guards. 2) it was easier to defend back then. You were allowed to use your forearm to slow down the ball carrier. 2.1 Today, you have to use mainly your legs since the league hindered hand checking [even if the NBA made multiple rules since 1978 to ban hand checking] But, Rodman could transition pretty well today because his motor was off the chart. Which means, he could guard excessively well today. You need a lot of energy to be an elite defender today. And before you may ask. I was born in 1970 and played College ball during the 1990s!

People now remember this guy for the tattoos covering him, the wild hair, the instagram comments, the crazy personality. Basically everything other than basketball. We need to remember him for what this video shows here. The greatest hustle ever, the insane rebounding ability, the will to win. That's the Dennis Rodman people need to remember

rodman is the definition of talent in its purest form. he didn't train 20 hours a day like kobe or mj. instead he partied all day but when its match time, you can bet that he's gonna get shit done like nobody else. we may not ever see another player like rodman again. people idolize players like mj or kobe or lebron, but most of them don't realize how good rodman is. he may not be making any top players of all time lists, but u sure as fking hell want him in your starting 5 if u want to create a dynasty

I was in last year of primary school when my teacher told my dad that she doubts that I will make it through mid school. Today I face my last semester in master class of chemical engineering at university. Every morning I see myself in the mirror and think I made it. I proofed everybody wrong. Everybody that doubts me. I did it all by power of will. By effort. That is why Dennis Rodman is my role Model . He wasn’t supposed to be a nba superstar but he is an all time great. He did it all. Thank you for everything. Maybe nobody will read it but it means everything to me... PS: sorry for bad english, i’m not a native speaker.

Bulls fans need to give Rodman the same love we fans in Detroit give him..... You Bulls fans have always underappreciated how great this man was..... you ask a 6'8 man to guard all 5 positions on the court, let MJ and Pippen score all the shots and make Rodman get you 20 rebounds a game, which lucky for you, he ENJOYS doing... if not for that, you don't ever get Chicago's 2nd 3 peat........ James Worthy from the 80s Lakers, who this bulls team couldn't beat back in the 80s, has stated Rodman is the greatest athlete that EVER defended him...... You people have no idea how hard it is to be a rebounding champ year after year at his height...... Yet I never read comments or see love about how great Rodman was for your bulls in a watered down 90s era....it's always mJ, mJ, mJ.... Thank Rodman too.....that's all I'm saying....

@@rhanson2356 I doubt they're beating Orlando or NY without someone down low yo defend shaq and ewing. After Horace left they were void at the 4 and 5. Rodman saved them from a major fall off. Especially considering Jordan came back and had lost a step athletically. Just a small step, but it was enough of a step that he wouldnt be able to carry that team without a solider to help him shoulder the load. Scottie could only do so much, and kukoc wasnt tough enough to be in the trenches. He was a finesse guy.

Only this man made rebounds, steals, blocks a main part of his game. this man created tough defense, earned the right to do whatever he wnted to. Every young man wants to be MJ-Kobe-Lebron. but nobody wants to be DENNIS and do the dirty job! He s the best! He won it all, became the DPOY, all-star and hall of fame even having two times less points than rebounds in his career!

Micheal Kelly The average height in the modern NBA is 6'6 as well. And 60s players don't inflate their heights like modern NBA players do. Dwight Howard is listed at 6'11 but around the same height as Bill Russell who is listed at 6'9. The 60s/70s have a lot of good players, Walt Bellamy, Nate Thurmond, Kareem Abdul Jabbar (7'2 multiple MVP who never averaged 20+rpg), Artis Gilmore, Willis Reed. Ray Felix 6-11 65 Chuck Share 6-11 Walter Dukes 7-0 Swede Halbrook 7-3 Walt Bellamy 6-11 Nate Thurmond 6-11 Reggie Harding 7-0 Mel Counts 7-0 Walt Wesley 6-11 Hank Finkel 7-0 Craig Spitzer 7-0 Craig Raymond 6-11 Otto Moore 6-11 Rich Niemann 7-0 Tom Boerwinkle 7-0 265 Dave Newmark 7-0 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 7-2 Greg Fillmore 7-1 240 George Johnson 6-11 245 Bob Lanier 6-11 250 Elmore Smith 7-0 250 Tom Payne 7-2 240 Vic Bartolome 7-0 230 Jim McDaniels 6-11 William Smith 7-0 George Johnson 6-11 (yes another G. Johnson) LaRue Martin 6-11. If height is really that important, Gheorge Mhuresan, Shawn Bradley and Manute Bol would have dominated on the glass. Ridiculous pace and less fouls called resulted in far more rebounding opportunities.

What I love about Rodman was while he was a physical player, he wasn't aggressive for the most part, he just showed signs of dedication and good hustle, to the point even when he got knocked down he'd get up and clap it off. He put his body on the line for the sake of the team.. Such an underrated player.

@iamnotactuallyrealgeorge
@iamnotactuallyrealgeorge 8 жыл бұрын
marton Stanev When you get paid millions of dollars to be the superstar on a team, you need to give it your all. Having everything you could want outside of the sport you are paid to pay is not an obvious reason to play without intensity. It's not all about him, and his teammates have gotten pissed at him for his lack of effort on the defensive end.
@AreolaGrande94
@AreolaGrande94 8 жыл бұрын
+swaggyb3000 ......you basically are looking at mirror images with harden and rodman. rodman had the best offensive batman/robin combo in jordan/pippen, not to mention other capable scorers, on that side. he could basically camp on offense and crash the boards. harden has to carry all of the burden on offense. his supporting cast is quite literally trash, and especially last year when EVERYONE on the rockets got injured and they had like harden + d-leaguers playing they made the wcf. that is all on harden. rodman was an elite defender/rebounder/hustler. harden is an elite scorer, elite passer, great rebounder (for a guard), and let's not forget his steals per game numbers are always top 10 or top 5. for all the crap he gets about his defensive effort, let's not forget that rodman was pretty useless offensively except for rebounding/putbacks.
@iamnotactuallyrealgeorge
@iamnotactuallyrealgeorge 8 жыл бұрын
EdudLufetips Yes, but all I'm saying is Rodman played his heart out every time he was on the floor. If Harden gave more effort on the defensive end, and really worked to improve himself, he could get serious consideration for the best player in the game.

5x NBA Champion. Greatest rebounder of all time. I don't think he was just a Hall of Famer, I think he is one of the top 10 greatest players in league history right next to MJ, Bird, Magic, Kobe, Lebron, and so on.... His skill set was unique, his heart unmatched and his intelligence of the game was advanced. He wasn't the biggest guy, he wasn't fancy with the ball, he was a straight to the point type of player. His work ethic was crazy, dude was strong and knew how to use his whole body to beat anyone bigger than him. If I had to pick my top 5 starters of all time Dennis Rodman would be my Power Forward all day...

+TheyCallMe Viz Dennis Rodman is not the Greatest Rebounder of All Time! That my friend would go to either Bill Russell or Wilt Chamberlin who both averaged over 22 boards a game and have a final count of over 20 boards for their careers! Rodman as great as he was does not come close to either Russell or Wilt! Rodman maybe on the Greatest Rebounders of All Time and on that list he would barely make top 5! I said barely but he is one of the Top 5 Rebounders of All Time!
@robbiej2734
@robbiej2734 8 жыл бұрын
+vincespell while I do agree that wilt is the greatest rebounder ever, I think that Dennis is better than Russell rebounding wise. Dennis was a great rebounder despite being only 6'7, and although Russell wasn't much taller at 6'9, he played back when there weren't many bigs. Also, Russell grabbed more boards because everyone played run and gun back then, so more shots were taken

+kevin reynold Fun fact is that Hanamichi is actually based of Dennis Rodman. Same number when Rodman was on the Pistons and Spurs, and they both like to headbutt people.

Paling rusuh, di buat buat mancing emosi lawan and he did it, gak ada doi NBA gak SERU. The best rebound. Penampilan yg paling di tunggu, kaya adiknya Michael Jordan. Tukang ngacak-ngacak

+Keith Reynolds dude drag queen doesn't mean you are gay although most of them are. Rodman is married with kids. He is just unique and different and wild.

He was the prefect fit to a late 90's Bulls team I remember when he came over I'll admit at 10 year I was nervous because of his rep and him along with Jordan and Pipen gave some of the best memories a young Bulls fan can ask for.
