Oh my goodness, what a predicament! The muscles in your legs must have atrophied more than even you realized. You can build that strength back, a little at a time. Seems the biggest hurdle is getting to the point you can stand steadily and walk 50 without issue. Then you can build on that. I think you can do it, Dennis, no doubt. My God be with you on your health journey.

Oh no! That was my biggest fear when you said you hadn’t walked in so long. I knew that was insane that the pt hadn’t made sure you could walk. Even in the hospital this summer a week; pt had me doing leg exercises and standing up from my bed to a potty chair before they let me leave. I pray that your legs gain strength and you have some mobility asap!

Thank you very much friend. When I was in the hospital, I was doing physical therapy and making some good gains. Oddly enough, the only rehab that I received in the rehab was at the end that I paid for and scheduled myself. It’s a shame.

Thanks for keeping it real and telling it like it is, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Honestly, this could so easily be me. Really sucks getting older and having issues. Stick with it and get that strength back. You will get there!

I have an idea of how frustrating that can be from one time when my father fell in the bathroom at home. The fire department came and one of them had to climb through a window to get to him wedged between the toilet and door. It was quite the ordeal. The grace you show is an example for all of us for how to handle life's curveballs. (just like my dad)

Please consider renting an apartment or extended stay hotel for a while/month...(?) You need a larger & safe space (not the streets) to recuperate.. How about joining Planet Fitness ? They offer workout equipment, personal trainers, and shower facilities. Some are open 24 hours. Wishing you better luck.

Sorry to hear this in your situation. I can somewhat relate as I myself sometimes don’t feel my legs when walking like I am about to fall. I don’t know what’s wrong but now I walk with Go Fit walking sticks to help me find somewhere to sit on these episodes. Your muscles are probably very weak from lying down so long. Even in your bad situations you bring jokes to make us laugh. You are something else Dennis.

Well, my friend I understand you completely. We have some similar things in common medically. I have spent most of this year fighting a horrible case of Neuropathy. The dead weight, not being able to walk, falling and embarrassing situations getting lifted up. But Physical Therapy and time things are getting better. So, it will for you. Keep trying to walk with you walker. Strengthen those walking muscles. I will also say your videos have inspired me. I like your content and the work you put into it. Get well my friend.

Don’t be embarrassed, it’s just life in recovery, you’ve had some serious health stuff my friend….. Gosh I wish your rehab had got you a little better strength wise before they released you…. You are a wise man, I know you’ll do what you need to, to best take care of you. After my surgery last year, it took me about 2-3 months to get my strength back in my arm, but I don’t have the same movement anymore. That’s ok, I’ve learnt to work with what I’ve got!! 😅 Praying you get a decent sleep my friend, praying for you!!!!! Slow & steady wins the race 💪🌟♥️🙏

Oh Dennis, what a humbling ordeal, oh my heart hurts for you friend. I know how badly you wanted (and needed) to return to truck living, but I'm truly struggling to understand how this is going to result in getting you back on your feet?? even long enough to handle the basic needs like toileting. Being so sick with blood infection like you were, had as much to do with you losing your strength as the extended immobility has. It's a road and a half under normal living conditions but this, this isn't working my friend. Plus your heart, oh my. Will be praying for a more suitable option so that you CAN actually get your legs back under you. And some days are better, some not, so I get that too. And did I hear you right, you traded your wound care for some coffee time? That was honest at least. Well, rest well Mr. D, I think you were probably pretty sore today and likely tomorrow too. Gosh please take care ok? Really concerned about you. Sorry for the letter. 🙏

You keep saying theres nothing wrong with you, and you're ok-- but you can't walk, Dennis. That's a huge problem. It's going to require physical therapy to rebuild the strength in your legs. You could do this outpatient. But you need to start exercising those legs or you are going to wind up in the sand again. None of us want that to happen.
