Annie Adair did a good job with the narration, and the few words she says in Italian are spot on...no wonder she is an Italian citizen

Thank you for your knowledgeable video tour. Volterra has been on our list of places to go for six years. When we can be free to travel again, a Volterra stay will be a must. I read somewhere that the residents have a lot of Etruscan DNA, which is not surprising. My heart cries for Mother Italy and the Covid 19 struggle. CIAO

Volterra is a place I have wanted to visit for a long long time, do you think it's possible to visit Volterra and Sienna in 1 day?
@denniscallan7 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you have a car. Driving is quite easy here, with good roads and distance of 35 miles, will take about 90 minutes to drive. However public transport, not good, so drive. Volterra in the morning then full afternoon and evening in Siena, with dinner at twilight on the Campo, superb. You must enter the Duomo and spend one hour there, and walk the many lanes. Other towns nearby beckon, San Gimignano, Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano, you can drive there too. Tuscany deserves a week or two.

@@denniscallan BUT WHY.
@denniscallan3 жыл бұрын
@@curleydogwg Because Russell asked if "it's possible," so it would be wrong to say no, not possible. Of course I get your point, why be in such a rush? It would obviously be much better to slow down and spend a day or two in each place. But it is possible. We should have empathy for some people who just do not have much vacation time and want to pack in as much as possible. Many times in the past I visited Sienna as a day-trip from Florence with my groups, and once we also included San Gimignano. That was a real stretch but made for a memorable day.

Finally some history of the tours... Your learning from Rick..
@denniscallan8 жыл бұрын
Well, ok, I take that as a compliment, but I think I do a better job than Rick. He is a master, no doubt about that, 1 million books sold every year, and video that sets an example, but he hogs the picture too much: all Rick, all the time, "look at me."
@blink47118 жыл бұрын
hey mate... I understand your comments.... And I enjoy both you and Rick for what you do. I was only refering to I think people like to hear a bit about the history of the town or region they are visiting... not about good shopping places on a organised tour..... Cheers mate.
@denniscallan8 жыл бұрын
Thanks again -- I have to agree. Rick is the king of travel videos, especially considering how few other TV shows take us anywhere, such as the boring stuff on the Travel Channel..and then there's Tony Bourdain, what fun, but mostly food -- Maybe some of the Globe Trecker hosts, also good. I keep plugging away making more while trying to entertain and educate.

I think you videos are great... and we are watching them as we are going to Tuscany (San Gimignano) for a wedding in April next year. So getting all the tips I can.. Cheers Tony
@denniscallan8 жыл бұрын
As you know, I have so many movies about that area I can't list them here, but it looks like you are finding them, and here's one about San Gimignano (which is a lovely, but tiny little village). Rent a car so you can easily reach a lot of other places, driving on very good roads with help from talking GPS. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6S8hHd_mdSpjNk
