Hi Dennis! My dad Carlo sold this truck to the original owner in 1984. He still remembers the truck and the gentleman he sold it to, and it's his handwriting on the invoice you posted. His family business, Falchini Motors, was a small GMC truck dealership in Ebensburg, PA that was established in the early 1930s, first as a Pontiac dealership then eventually becoming a GMC franchise and remaining in business for more than 70 years (the description above says it was located in Falls Creek, PA, but that's actually where the buyer was from). My dad, his father Frank, and his grandfather (also named Carlo), personally sold and custom ordered every truck. He is long retired now, but my dad still remembers details of just about every truck he sold, including the backstory of each and every buyer. Everyone loved stopping at the dealership to talk to my dad and he treated all of his customers like family. There isn't much to be found about Falchini Motors or my dad on the internet, so seeing this video all these years later and knowing that the truck was appreciated means a lot to my family.

I have a 1978 Chevy SWB BIG10 454 that I special ordered in 1978, it has almost 84k miles now. Bright blue metallic #25 with blue interior. Silverado trim package with almost every option available, even the factory tachometer. The options cost more than the base truck which back then came with a 6cyl 3 speed stick, no a/c and only a heater. I didn’t order power windows and door locks because they were junk. I ordered the radio delete with the windshield antenna and installed my own radio. The base price was around 3,350.00 IIRC and the MSRP was 7,200.00. It’s a long story but the short block was replaced at 500 miles and I was able to pay the 75.00 extra for an LS6 short block instead of the LS5. I sold the solid lifter cam and installed a hydraulic cam. The original block was a two bolt main and the LS6 is a four bolt main cap block with forged pistons and crankshaft. The original heads are #781 oval ports which are open chamber and with the closed chamber LS6 pistons yielded a 10.2 to 1 compression ratio. I ported the heads and cut them for larger valves, 2.19” in. and 1.88” ex. I completely disassembled the truck in the middle 90’s and repainted it the original blue. It has always been kept out of the weather/sun and inside of a garage. 1978 was the last year that the BIG10, which is classified as a 5/8ths ton, did not have a catalytic converter or any emissions controls. It had a true dual exhaust but I installed headers with Flowmasters #51050 with 3 inch custom bent pipe all the way to the back in the same configuration as the original pipes. I have it insured with Hagerty for $45,000.00

I had this exact truck in red. I got rid of it because of the dual tanks - fireballs ! Tanks are on the outside of the frame. Great little truck, but dangerous. Later got the same truck in 1995. Best truck I ever owned. I wish I still had it.

Brings back memories, I had the exact same truck in frost white w/blue interior and long bed (nobody ordered short beds in my area in those days). It was nice looking but the 305 with the 4 speed was a complete underpowered dog. The GM 4 speed has a granny 1st so it is actually really a 3 speed. I often towed a Glastron Carlson 20ft boat so after a few months of motor bogging I tried putting on headers with hiflow dual exhaust (I had to practically beg the muffler shop to put in a crossover pipe, in those days he thought my "experimental crossover" was "a waste of pipe", no problems deleting the CC in those days as long I removed it before and put in a "test pipe" ). The exhaust changes did did not help power at all. I then changed the cam to a one step up 292 lift, still little improvement. Put on an Edelbrock aluminum intake designed for towing and had the speed shop do some common minor mods to the Quadrajet carburetor, (drilled out factory "block plugs" so mixture could be hand tuned ). No noticeable real improvements yet. Finally, I pulled out the stock HEI distributer with early computer input plug and replaced it with an earlier model stock Chevy v8 non computer HEI distributer that had the weights and springs custom "curved" by a speed shop. This change also bypassed the computer but plugged in normally and was unnoticeable. I Installed it and by tuners instruction turned it until the motor pinged and backed off 2 degrees "I recall". HOLY COW!!!! did that motor come ALIVE and all the previous mods I suppose also came into play. No dynos in those days but it felt like that one last distributer change alone added at least 50 more horsepower and the gas mileage even improved a few mpg (no bogging?). Towed the boat like a tractor with not a hint of bogging ever even on hills. Having that truck with this motor/transmission combo got the manual trans urge out of my system for life, been all automatics since and I have never touched a new truck's motor again either. My truck had 342 rear end gears and I think 373 would have been much better with the 305 and maybe not required the mods. I think that early HEI w/computer was robbing all the power somehow. Those days were pre internet and had to guess and work with what I could order from the local regular auto parts store. Today you would have countless more options, advice and info. I drove it for about 50K miles trouble free and still feel lucky it all worked out, if the distributer swap had not worked I would have had to trade it off for a truck with more power. I think the distributer change alone would have made it driveable and was the cheapest and easiest to install change. The dealer suggested I swap back the original distributer when I traded and I still have the curved one today stored away somewhere.

Safety laws limited the amount of fuel they could keep in the tank. so they gave everyone the 2 dollar bill to top it off. That's always stuck out in my mind as a very cool idea. It was a small token that made that dealership and that purchase stand out from the rest. Perhaps something similar is the purpose of your 1985 5 dollar bill found in the paperwork?

Hey BAT guys - I have been dealing with Rudy Dousset, over at BAT and was going to auction off a 2001 Series 100 in Thundercloud - I am the original owner - the car is 100% original no rust CA truck. It has no paint work. BAT told me it was one of the best examples they had seen in a long time - the interior is like new. All maintenance is up to date including a dealership oil change and new wipers yesterday - new tires last week. I was just informed by Rudy at BAT that because it has just gone over 200K miles they will no longer accept it at auction at this time - they said they have too many cars in the que and that maybe they would take it in the fall but didn't feel this was a good time of year - and that they were starting to turn down higher mile auctions - of course us LC guys know 200K is just broken in. I have run synthetic oil since my first oil change. I have all the paper work - it was purchased new from Valencia, CA Toyota. The LC is now located at my place in Santa Fe, NM. If anyone has any interest feel free to reach out to me - I would be pleased to share all the BAT photo's and provide the specifics. Best

I loved that truck and when allowed took it to the OBX and drove it on the beach (surf fishing) @ Hatteras. No worries, I got to the nearest car wash immediately so I wouldn't get my $%$%$ chewed about the salt on the underneath. At one point he put HD suspension on it for a truck camper. What a bouncy event then when camper was not on. He had that truck well into the 90's with low miles but like most of that era, rust was a problem no matter if it did see a beach or not. And let's not talk about gas mileage, hence the two tanks. Big wallet needed even more so.

I am 62 years old. When I go to car shows. Many cars and trucks have been redone. Some, 2 or 3 times. But,This truck is awesome. Clean, Clean and clean. Why would Dennis give up a truck like this.Yes, It's about the dollars! I thought his collection of Mustang's was tops. But, Wow! That truck is special. I have never owned a Muscle car or vintage truck. My 2005 Taurus 3.0 Vulcan has 175,000 back and forth miles on it. That car made me alot of money. It ain't worth the money I keep putting into it. But, The average used car is $27,000. I have a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium AWD 2.0 turbo. That I am going to keep running too. I just can't justify buying another vehicle at these prices. I guess I'll wait till electric vehicles get better. Wish, I had Dennis dollar's. Hell, I wish I had Richard dollar's. Then I could buy the car or truck of my dreams. Great video Dennis! I think all your content is high quality, informative even if it's advertising a vehicle for sale. Though having ads running through an infomercial is a downer. Beautiful sweet truck. I am at a loss as why he didn't get the 350, 4bl carb. Nor why he would order it and barely drive it. Maybe a time capsule, maybe retirement investment.

Dennis, being built on the same assembly line. If you ordered the same exact truck from Chevy, the GMC would most probably be $100 bucks more, as back in the mid to late ‘80’s, the only difference would be the radio. GMC’s usually came stock with a better radio, which in turn, added the cost to a doppelgänger equipped truck.

Had a 1985 Texas Highschool flashback. All that was missing was the gun rack. The good old days when you could park your car AT SCHOOL with a rifle on the gun rack .....
