Nice instructional - hope I never need it. I have a 124 that was pretty destroyed when I got it. Built new sides for the pickup head, added all new tines, unfroze the all-important bale checks, new cam rollers and guide (hard to find!), and fab'd a new bull sprocket for the pickup head (helper broke it trying to remove it). That little baler makes great, tight bales and almost never misses a knot. About 1 in 500. It looks like dog meat (yours is gorgeous) but gets the job done every year. Love it, and just the right size for our little operation.

Thank you Chris, I will remember this video if my 124 ever has this problem. I love that baler. I've put 600 bales through it this year with out missing a tie 😁

Awesome Trent! Mine has truly been flawless up till this point, and I'm the I one that caused the failure. Lol. Massey really had a good thing with these balers.

Thanks for sharing your valuable lesson learned knowledge about the baler you have there. Issues with the machine's timing can be very frustrating when you find yourself under the gun trying to get something done. Keep up the good work there. Take care. 👍🏻👍🏻

I work on a neighbors John Deere 14 baler the the John Deere service tech got out of time and destroyed the needles. His owners manual had timing instructions with measurements in inches and degrees. It was so easy to do. Just follow the instructions. Oops not easy for us men who never read the instructions, lol. Great info.
@DennysCountryLife3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I structures are great.. sometimes not easy to follow! Lol. I think it's strange that my owners manual doesn't tell you how to time everything. Good thing I don't give up, and can figure stuff like this out!

thanks for the video, took our knotters off to do some work and then realized they needed to be timed. Didn't have a book so this video was just what I needed, life saver man!

Thanks for sharing that !! I'm running a old international baler . I should give it a check over , I know those dawgs in the plunger/ chamber saved my needles once, think It tried to bale a good size stick if I remember correctly. Idk what you think, but it fascinates me watching it go through a cycle of tying or making a bale , a 7th wonder of the world 😁😉

Yeah, it's really amazing how it all works. I showed my wife how the knotters works in slow-mo, she was floored! Which baler ya got? 440?

Not fun when you are in the field. looks like a nice little baler. I bought a brand new 1840 massey last year. had to my old baler was getting worn out. not real happy with the new one yet. it broke about 10 bales on the 1st cutting. in 2500 . the needles have to go thru the plunger looks scarry. but you are right.
@DennysCountryLife3 жыл бұрын
Yep, not fun in the field at all! Ha ha. 10 out of 2500 ain't bad compare to most new balers. I've heard horror stories about new New Holland balers. I hope she smoothens out for ya

Very clear explanation Chris, well done, very glad it hit the stops and not the needles, is there something wrong with your tractor

Hey thanks Jan! Yes, my injector pump is leaking from a different spot. It has to be removed in order to fix it. I don't have the special tool to do so.
@bobsipe44494 ай бұрын
I'm confused? I thought there are slots in the plunger where the needles come up thru while plunger cycles inward so what hits the needles and breaks them?
@DennysCountryLife4 ай бұрын
The recesses aren't deep enough for the plunger to not hit it, if it's out of time. They are only so deep. That's what the plunger stop is for, and why it needs to be maintained. That's what saved my needles in this instance.

What other problems have you encountered with the 125 baler. I bought one last year and will be using it this year
@DennysCountryLife Жыл бұрын
This has been a fantastic baler. I've had it for six years and it has been extremely reliable. No issues with it. Keep the knotters clean, keep it greased and make hay!
@malachimalachii3 ай бұрын
watching this, I think we are in time, but we get a lot of failed knots. any thoughts?
@DennysCountryLife3 ай бұрын
Is it always the same knotter that misses? So many things it could be. Make sure your twine is routed properly, no grease on the twine discs, the needle spacing where it hands the twine to the knotter is correct, and the bill hook tension isn't too tight or too loose. If all that is correct, it should tie perfectly. One more thing: On the top of the tube for the bill hook assembly, there should be a plastic cap. Pull that off and shoot some spray lube of your choice down inside, and put the cap back on. Most people don't know about it, and it can make it not tie, or even worse, destroy your bill hook assembly. I hope this helps! Let me know.
@malachimalachii3 ай бұрын
@@DennysCountryLife grease on the twins discs? Like the knotters themselves? I will take a look at the bill hooks tomorrow as well. I am normally on the tractor so I am learning all I can to see if I can figure out what's going on, and get us some squares. We only have one animal in the barn that we need them for at the moment, so we only need like one trailer full for next winter.

MF has the simplies knotter in the business. Yes the procedure is in the book. I see first that the spring in your knotter is broke. It's been 20 years but could time that in My sleep

Yes they do have the simplest knotter for sure. I love them. I don't have a broken spring in the knotters. They are both in tact, and were at the time of this video. The procedure is certainly in the shop manual, but not in my operators manual (only one I had tat the time). Thanks for watching.
