@@wyomingadventures Some years ago when my female Soleil was still alive, I would buy ready-to-fold mini boxes from a bird toy vendor and fill them with small items such as wood, cardboard, etc. She loved to take everything out and it kept her busy for a while (see "Budgie Soleil and Her Treasure Chest"). I guess you could approximate the same type of toy with pieces of paper tubes stuffed with "stuff" if you think they would like it.

But as I mentioned before, it is crazy what they will charge for simple toys such as those made with cardboard and plastic straws! Making your own is more friendly for the environment...

The only bad thing I have to say about the pen is that it makes a slightly different sound than a clicker and if you used a pen as one, every time you write something with a pen the bird will think it did something good.

for a little while I didn’t know how much birds needed the owners attention and how they needed greens so i’m making a list for thinks I need to get my bird! I need to get him a bigger cage because I didn’t realize how big the cage needed to be etc! and I don’t have a lot of money so hopefully I can get this list done quicker than I think I can♥️ I really love my baby boy! wish me luck🥺 I intend to take MUCH better care of him future wise 😁 I might update anyone who sees this comment too!!

As always very nice video. I like those straw toys. I hope the budgies like them too. I've been breeding and keeping budgies for almost 30 years now and do all of this. I like heavy ceramic bowls for that reason. The budgies like to stand on them and they can't flip them over. I use cat dishes. I have some pretty ones that have birds on them.

These are great ideas! But, I saw that you have a mirror as a toy. Budgies don't recognize their own reflections. Especially if your budgie is a girl they can "mate" with their own reflection, which can cause them to lay eggs. They'll have a vitamin deficiency, and could get even worse diseases with time. Though it's best to just get rid of the toy, if your budgie really likes it, you can just scratch the mirror until it's no longer reflective. Hope you and your bird are safe and happy! :D

Bird poo is like glue, so when toothbrushes dont do the job, I like starting with a plastic scraper. I also like using a steamer (when the birds are out) to disinfect the cage. Also, an easy playground is to take a large vase, a large clean branch, and weigh it all down and full the vase with clean rocks that they cant eat. Make sure its sufficiently stable, then hang toys from it. Bonus is that its easily portable!

Three questions: How do I stop my bird from throwing toys into his water, what do I do about him being literally afraid of any food that isn't seeds, and how do I entertain him more? For context on the last one, he makes a lot of noise, which is expected, but I feel like he's doing that because he has nothing else to do. I've tried playing with him more, letting him out more, (which I haven't been able to do recently because of repair work/cleaning) and giving him new toys, but it hasn't been working. I'm mainly worried if he's stressed out.

Dude if your cage is small enough to fit in a box it’s pretty much abuse for the poor bird. They need heaps of room to fly. And strawberries aren’t veggies. There fruit, and should only be given to birds as a rare treat due to how sugary they are. One thing I love in this video is the ‘playground’ as you call it (it’s usually called a stand). This is great since you can have your bird out even if you can’t give it direct attention.

Hey, mister, boxes aren’t all tiny. Some are *huge*. Also, most people let their birds out of the cage to fly around the room. *ALSO*, strawberries are naturally sugared, in a way that isn’t bad for birds. I hope you aren’t a bird owner if you don’t realize these things.

Dear @Denny The Budgie , i have parakeet i named dove (ironic ik). She is white with to "blue berries" on her chest. but i'm worried about her. Whenever she is in flight she seems to squeal and squeak. I'm not sure if she is sick or if its a disease. It may even be from the breeder but i need ur help. She has a bright cage with about 5 or so toys a cuttlebone, a swing, and daily changed water with a refilled every 2 days food bowl. her skat is normal though green and fine. no water or black at all. she has a cage fit for 3 budgies and we have a total of 5 budgies each with there own cages. She definitely isn't lonely she talks to them all day in the same room, my room. She flies clear but i still don't know what that squeal is its repetitive like ek ek ek ek ek ek ek ek ek and i hope it does not shorten her lifespan. She doesn't bite that much unless i go a little to fast for her to see. I hope someone mainly Denny The Budgie reads this so they can help. I also adopted her sister with her. she does a squeaking sneeze like choking thing also she does it 5 times in a row every time. her sister princess did it yesterday but it only happens about once a week or month. Sorry if this is to much for u to read but im super worried about her and it cant be my cats hurting her there in there own room right now. I'm just hopeing u will read most of this or all. Should i take booth of them or just dove to the vet?

The only flaw to the grow your own veggies idea is that where I live the whole country is frozen for more than half the year so our growing season is really short and I have noticed that when I buy new seed I have to buy the same brand every time because other wise my budgie won’t eat it but instead he either throws it around or spits seeds at me lol

I would recommend not to drop the sand, it contains shell limestone which the budgies need to stay healthy, my two budgies love sand and to pick it up. And it's cheap btw.
