Denon 6000 MKii midi channel not working - repaired

I hope you can find a replacement switch as they showed no longer available a year ago. What you can do, is either tie that line to ground or tie it high... I forget which, but basically you can hard wire it as if the switch is in the PC/USB position, you just won't be able to change it to line again, but at least it will work with the software. The part number you're looking for is SR1712F-0102-20F0A-N9-N instrumentalparts.com used to have them, but I don't think they do anymore. If you can't find another source, you'll have to have someone hard wire solder the channel inside to be USB only.

@@PaulReedy The spare parts (rotary switch) have unfortunately been discontinued as a spare part by Denon and I have not managed to find someone who can deliver a replacement. Anyone have any tips? Has anyone else bridged the connections at the switch (always in midi mode)?

@@andreasa529 yes you can bridge the connection to force it in midi mode. Test one of the working channels to see which pin make that connection. I believe the line is pulled low, maybe I say in the video.

@@andreasa529 You can bridge pin1 of the switch to pin3 and that should hardwire it to PC mode. There are only 3 connections used on the switch, pins 1,2 and 3. Tying pin1 and 3 together should hardwire it to PC mode

and when you moved the gain potentiometer started to work? This is happening to me and I don't know if it's the switch?

I believe gain should work for either mode, but to get it to work in software, pin1 of the switch must be connected to pin 3

@@edwarddilollo4799 unfortunately they are no longer available. It is possible to hard wire it internally by soldering across the proper connections on the switch to make it PC only. I am not sure which pin needs to be tied where, I would have to revisit the schematic.

@@edwarddilollo4799 The switches in question are SW178 and SW180 depending on which channel you're working on. Pins 1 and 2 are switched to the common terminal. What I suggest is once you open it up, take a continuity tester and check the switch connections on the working channel to see what pins are being connected in PC mode. Solder in a jumper wire across these same 2 pins on the bad channel, and that should do it. The part number for the switch is SR1712F-0102-20F0A-N9-N if you are able to find it at a parts warehouse.

I looked where I bought it before at instrumentalparts.com/ but they say the part is no longer available. The part number you're looking for, for the 2 position rotary switch on the inner 2 channels is SR1712F-0102-20F0A-N9-N If you search online for that part, you can find suppliers. Mouser is one that came up in search.

I bought this unit brand new. It is June 2024 now. Finally something broke on it. I think I’ve easily done over 1000 parties with this unit. I’m grateful for the video but I’m gonna give my unit a proper burial. 🪦 😢
