hey bud, I am looking to upgrade my home sound system to this (Denon Heos), after I saw it at a friends home and I was impressed, but I have a question... so I already have smart devices such as: Alexas, Ring cameras, light switches, Firesticks, and of course computers, tablets and phones... so safe to say my home is pretty smart... until there is an internet outage, then it becomes really dumb, nothing works, I cant even turn lights on/of as Alexa responds: "Hmm.. I'm having trouble connecting to the internet" will the sound system be a part of that problem as well?, what can I do? or is that the nature of the beast?

I have a question. I am in the process of planning wiring for my new home build. I am interested in those extra zone HEOS AMPs, but it looks like Denon has discontinued them. Is there some sort of alternative, since I already have Denon gear I would like to start a HEOS setup, or should I just consider moving to SONOS?

It looks like HEOS amp became HEOS Link Then you need a Denon receiver with HEOS built in Sonos Amp is $650, HEOS Link $350, so big savings. Not sure how well it works tho

Can you recommend a Bluetooth/wireless transmitter I can buy to allow me to mount these on the back wall with no speaker wires? My receiver is the Denon 3700H. Thank you

Funny the bit about wifi. I'm actually the opposite. In my new home I'm building I've planned out the wifi and other network routing like crazy but completely forgotten to deal with the audio! So now I'm frantically trying to get up to speed on what my options are and the tech etc. Right now I'm mostly looking at Sonos/Sonance but not really sure why. They just caught my eye. Ideally I'd have a system that integrates well with Apple & Spotify AND could some how mesh with my existing Homepod and Homepod minis that will be in most rooms. That's probably a tall order though :)

@someolddude70763 жыл бұрын
I doubt it’s just a router. For residential use, its common to have a multifunction appliance, like router, WiFi, firewall, and 4 or 8 hub or switch ports, all in one little box. He did say a Mesh, which implies more than 1 access point device, so I’m guessing a combo unit and also a standalone or mesh capable AP. Sometimes, depending on area and internet provider, they will give you a combo FW, switch, and AP unit with the subscription.

@chrismon10014 жыл бұрын
can't - you'd need an integra receiver not Marantz if you want it to work with Sonos.
@raifzakhem4 жыл бұрын
@@chrismon1001 thank you for sharing that. I’ve not that familiar with that brand. I did have the option of switching out my marantz for a Pioneer elite SC LX-704. The pioneer is advertised as works with Sonos as well. I’m trying to see if that still requires me to get a connect or port? Does the integra work with Sonos as a plug and play or would you need a connect/port with that as well? I would have thought that the marantz would have worked the same way.
@chrismon10014 жыл бұрын
@@raifzakhem Onkyo (avoid that brand), Pioneer and Integra are all the same company. I'm glad you mentioned pioneer I actually like them better than Integra unless you need an HDBase-T connection. Yes, those three brands integrate with with Sonos directly. OR you are right you could use a connect on the marantz and then switch inputs, when you want to use sonos. Definitely not as seamless. I love the Pioneer amps the way they sound is great also they just announced Dirac is coming to the eco system, one of the BEST room correction software.

@@chrismon1001 what do you mean by the Sonos not being high resolution ? Also not sure what you mean about one app for the TV and outdoor ? The Sonos Amp allows for basically the same functionality as the Heos for independent controlling and also grouping
@markg79634 жыл бұрын
That’s my problem with Sonos, an otherwise amazing solution for audio, is that it’s awkward to use it back in the main room. But the heos or yamahas music cast system is already integrated into that receiver. However, all that said, I still put up with the additional complexity of setup in exchange for the control and ease of use of the Sonos. A far superior app, that is way simpler to use.
@chrismon10014 жыл бұрын
@@danielruiz5348 Sonos doesn't do Hi-Res Audio, (24-96, 24-192, DSD 2.4, DSD 5.6). Also they used a Denon receiver on the TV, that doesn't work with Sonos. So if they want to control their music inside and all their outdoor zones with 1 phone app. Heos was the obvious choice. That way you arent using the sonos app for the outdoors and the heos app for the TV zone.

A lot of times we go in after the builder is done and we don’t play any part in the prewire. So I have a home full of Heos speakers. When they are working well they are brilliant. However, they are rarely without issues. I purchaed a Heos amp for my theatre in the hope I would be able to then send that signal around the house so we could enjoy a music video everywhere. Typical of Heos nothing works right and there is an insane latency between the theatre hard-wired speakers and the rest of the Heos speakers. Totally useless. I have contacted Heos on so many occasions to try to rectify the issues to no avail. Beyond frustrated. My wife and I have no choice but to laugh at the ridiculous antics of our system as we listen to music around the house. It ungroups, unpairs, repairs, regroups, loses speakers and subs, drops out and in, plays only some speakers at times then all the rest at others. I’ve been told that hard-wiring will fix the issue but wasn’t that the point in buying wireless?? It seems that they had their software just right about two years ago. Today? God only knows. Garbage.
