Wow hired on the spot for both jobs you've ever had! You must be an amazing interviewee. Just want to let people know this definitely isn't typical. It took me many tries with what I thought were amazing interviews. I was told I was very sweet, intelligent, passionate, and fun to interview with but unfortunately I was passed up for more experienced candidates. By no means does this mean you are doing anything wrong it's discouraging but you have to keep moving forward. I eventually did find a job with a very lovely family dentist I actually was hired on the spot there! I put in over 30 applications to offices within the area before I found my home. Don't give up there is a place for everyone!

I'm starting tomorrow after a nine week course. 9 Saturdays. I feel like I know nothing. I'm so terrified. I was looking over a list of burs the office uses for different procedures and I knew only a couple of them. Placing the dental dam, making temporary crowns, remember the names of instruments and burs.. ugh! so overwhelmed and scared.

I'm so excited, I'm almost done with the 12week program. I love being active and working and getting in there with my hands! Of course its scary but I really want to help others and I think that's the most purest thing. And you shouldn't to feel anxious about that. I've seen videos about experiences not going so well at first in the dental offices but you know there is always change that can be made by you if you want to keep being there or not. I hope and wish the best for all.

This is my first DA job and the lead assistant training me is not a good teacher. She has yelled at me several times and a couple of times in front of patients. I was also assigned the task of ordering for the entire office, and I did not know what anything was in the office. The lead gets on me if products are not coming in fast enough or what I have not ordered (insert name of product) I’m thinking of quitting. I’m forgetting so many things as I can’t focus with everything that is going on and that I’m fearful of getting yelled at by the lead.

Do you have any opinions regarding studies as a dental technician? I'm going to be enrolling in dental assisting, but have been offered a discount if I take up dental technology as well. I know you can earn more over time working in dental technology, but it seems like a difficult career to get into. I know that dental assisting is very easy to get into as there is always a demand...

So I’m basically learning on the job until I’m certified. I thought maybe I would just sterilize and help set up too but no I witnessed extractions too a filling and many crowns. I was observing at first but then the dentist started asking me to pass her instruments and materials. 😭😭
