Maybe you haven't discovered it yet but 1.9 miles west of the Sol Duc hot springs is a a forest service road that goes south, one mile down it you go over a bridge over the river and leave the national part and go into the national forest lands and camp in that area anywhere you want for as long as you want for free. There's all sorts of dirt roads you can explore but if you sort of stick to the left for a couple of miles you will cross a bridge over Tom Creek and just to the right is a dirt road that dead ends above the creek that is a wonderful place to camp. It is a small area but you can get the RV into it, I took my small fifth wheel there a number of times and that is where my ashes are going when I die.

Bob Wells of CheapRVtravel (I think that's his channel) did an excellent video about getting cheap dental work done just across the border from Yuma AZ in Mexico. Hopefully, you can baby that temporary tooth until you get back to Quartzite and head south from there.. No corn on the cob for you!

July, 1972. We hiked up the HOh river valley to where the streams were only 2 ft wide. Threw in my hand-line and pulled out a 2' steel-head, completely.out of the blue. Best camping-meal ever. Bring plenty of salt!

Eric, i know these vid are delayed so i hope Jax is ok by now. I can't imagine he got that much insectide in his system to make him throw up. One way to keep an eye on how his internal organs are working is to pull his lip up and chk his gums. they shld be a pink color. ifwhite, very pale, yellow or angry red. consider a fast vet visit. hope all is well.

Dental insurance is really pretty sketchy. It's good for routine checks-ups, cleaning, and cavity fills, but after that, the level of coverage starts to fall off really fast. And the procedures start to get very expensive at near 100% out-of-pocket. Anyway, glad to see you've got the tooth taken care of, even if it's only a temporary.

I stayed at that very same spot for a couple of nights about five or six years ago. I was bicycle touring around the loop from the north back down into Olympia and over to Graham. Great trip, and great free places to camp.

I would definitely stay the week at the new camping spot you found, I'm surprised those 8 spots weren't filled up when you got there, that's definitely a beautiful place. I hope Jax is feeling better now, throwing up in this case is probably a good thing in this case, with him getting the poison or whatever out of his system. Gem of a campsite! Hope Jax is feeling much better soon! I had an implant 3 years ago.... it has worked well for me. Our son had the flipper for years and he had to take it out every time he ate. Eventually he had implants... he has been very pleased with his implants. I am glad you were able to get in quickly to get a temporary tooth. Your videos are enjoyable!!!!

lol I tried to get you to go there last year when you were on the Peninsula, glad you finally made it! You could easily spend a week just checking out all the free camping around there. That's a primo spot but not the only one on the Hoh. A few miles upriver there's a boat access spot where you can drive right out on the beach, and there are some campgounds on the other side too (access via Hoh Mainline road off 101) Also, across 101 is Hoh Cottonwood, another DNR campground. It's a little buggier than where you are now, but pretty nice. And all these spots are free (don't forget your $30 annual Discover Passes though, as required on all DNR lands)

Eric I had a similar situation with a tooth. Beside having to come back again and again my dentist wanted around $1600 for my deal. I went to a dentist in Tijuana Mexico literally walked across from San Diego. Highly recommended dental practice all new equipment right next door to a hotel and she did everything in one day and I was completely done. Highly recommended terrific experience. Total cost $160.00. I know you'll have other expenses to consider but if your're getting prices in $3000 range it's a no brainer. The guy who referred me there got quotes for a crown at his dentist $3200. If your interest let me know I'll get you my email address and get you the referral. Very clean and safe. Safe travels

Having had to wear a flipper for six months for health reasons I won't go into before having a proper bridge put in, my strong advice is to just suck it up and have the dental implant done. The flipper will drive you crazy. You will have this replacement tooth for a VERY long time, so have it done properly right off. You will get so frustrated with the flipper that you will want to have the implant put in later on down the line anyway. No reason to pay twice.

My friend has a flipper. Basically a retainer with a fake tooth (from the looks, the same tooth you're missing). He seems to do well with it, only takes it out when he is eating or sleeping. It looks really good, you wouldn't even know he is missing a tooth unless he took it out. He has had it for years.

Eric, just as a precaution keep an eye on Jax's coloring and water intake and urine amount. The bug spray or an toxins affect their liver and kidneys. If he starts turning yellow (liver) or his water intake is a lot more than his out put (kidneys) take him to the vet. If you have a pet syringe, one that they use to give liquid meds, give him a little extra water a few times a day to flush the toxins out. Cats are pretty good at getting rid of bad shit that gets in their system (hence the vomiting) but just wanted you to know what to keep a lookout for. Love you Jax!!!

Root canal. You may as well have told me they were going to cut off your fingers. I would go with the implant, but the cost may be prohibitive. The denture will look ok, but it's a pain to deal with, to keep clean, and you won't have fun if you eat corn on the cob. I'd really push for the implant and crown. But the temporary looks real good. We wouldn't even know, you're smile is perfect.

My husband spent the money for a flipper and couldn't wear it. He said it was too uncomfortable. He gets his crown on his implant this Thursday. He had to wait three months for the implant to adhere. Implants are as strong as our own teeth.

Eric, that's the best thing you can do for now. You can always get an implant later if you ever get to Mexico.....The Wynn's Went to Dr. Carlos Rubio who is in Algodones Mexico. (Dental DeFranco Implant Center) The Dr. is US trained and the facility is super clean, high tech and the Wynn's were happy with the work they had done. Hope Jax is better soon! Poor little guy!

Get the tooth taken care of right. Don't get a bridge. You will be so much happier. Also, get some boneless chicken cook it with a little salt, once it's cooked on both side cover with water and simmer for 10 minutes. Let it cool, cut into bite size pieces and give it to Jax with the water. He will love it and it's easier for him to eat.
