Denver Broncos Get Bo Nix Answer We Hoped For

While the prevailing talk around the NFL is that Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos settled for the "last best" quarterback available in the first round, we get the news from a valid journalist that Bo was the plan all along! We inferred lots from Sean Payton's discussion about trying to trick the league into moving up for JJ McCarthy but Jay Glazer in a podcast confirmed that Sean Payton told him before the draft that he wanted to fly to Bo Nix's house and be there in person when the Denver Broncos drafted him. This speaks volumes as to what the front office thought and that they did not settle on Bo Nix. We discuss some discouraging projections about our offense from Bleacher Report and MMQB and we discuss training camp! When you live in New York, and cover the "big" teams, and then someone says "talk about a small market team you nothing about like the Broncos." All they know is Wilsons big contract, so they something generic like, "they will be terrible for years because of it. DURR!" No one talks about all the things GP did with the salary cap. We cut some guys, got some cheap free agents, and will be paying Nix cheap rookie contract while we are paying off Wilsons contract. Broncos did a GREAT job in this off season.

Don't worry about the media at all. I think it's even better this way.. think of the sensation and "wow" if the team does do well. It could even be more than that.. maybe they KNOW, and have a stake. They win more if fewer bet on them.

People Forget Chicago gave up a fortune because everyone said Mitch Trubisky was the next great QB and Mahomes was a reach in that draft the 49ers payed 3 first round picks for the cant miss prospect in Trey Lance who played a total of 4 games in SF if you look at Bo Nix numbers last year in college that would be NFL MVP numbers I was pretty much alone in broncos country when we were 1 and 4 and was on the bronco fan boards and people laughed when I said we should draft Bo Nix I'm glad its come full circle and we took him where we did

There are some ignorant pundits out there who trash the Broncos. I saw one article that claimed the Broncos were the worst destination for a free agent. That one REALLY upset me. Turns out, their whole reasoning was the cap hit we have because of Russ. Then there was a guy (just a guy, another KZbinr) who reacted to Florio's pre-camp ranking. Apparently he has the Broncos at 22, which is the best ranking I've seen. This KZbinr said that was too high for the Broncos. In fact the Panthers who Florio ranked at 32, should be higher than the Broncos. He went on to say we "have no quarterback." Then he described other position groups. There wasn't one that he thought was bad. So apparently he doesn't believe in Bo and was basing his opinion on that alone. Sigh! Haters will hate and that's just what it is.

Never forget mitch Trubisky was took 8 picks ahead of mahomes i remember back then nobody was as high on mahomes as andy ried was, most fans back in 2017 would say trubisky was the best qb in the class now its not like that, draft position definitely does not matter.

Sports media of all kinds...national...local...& social media...are not experts on the sports they cover, they're largely just fans with a voice people can hear. I ignore all of them & dig out things for myself. In doing so I am always amazed at how much important information relevant to the players they cover they completely miss. I attribute this to sheer laziness. Fans don't demand a better product in terms of reporting, so they don't feel the need to provide one. The market dictates demand like any other service or product, & when the customers (readers & listeners) don't even know that a better product could be had...they don't ask for one.

Ben I've been a fan since '77 and let me say this watching the Broncos and the rest of the league for what? Realistically (paying attention) for 40 years or so. If there is one thing I'd always rather have in the pre season, it IS media doubt, hate, derision. It's only the bedrock of a team coming together to stop the world. I'd rather they ALL be told they CAN NOT be successful this year with a rookie QB and all the new spots on the roster. This is the way.

Denver has always been disrespected. I remember a young quarterback that was picked up by Denver, He was contracted a Million bucks a year and everyone flipped their lid. Then on a Monday night Denver was playing the Raiders and they put the kid in and he threw so hard fingers would get broken. But Denver won and everyone knew the kids name. John Elway, No one in sports gave him a chance and Denver was always the underdog and never good enough. Look how that turned out. If you are a Denver fan. You get more worried when they talk your team up. This might be a half and half year. Or it is going to send a wake up call for teams not to overlook Denver. Let the haters keep talking.

The "6th best" is subjective - what is the criteria? It has MORE to do with the system they'll be playing in. Obvious examples - Steve Young wasn't drafted by the 49ers - Brett Favre wasn't drafted by the Packers. They were busts with their original teams yet how did they perform with their new teams? Tom Brady was a 6th round pick - how did that turn out?

The Denver Broncos head coaches have been high on QB talent in the past which hasn't worked out. I want to believe, but we will not know until we see him play a season. I love the hype, I dig you energy, but lay off the copium. Remember, McDouche thought Tebow was the second coming. Dig the content brother but dial the hype and justifications back a bit. We'll know when we know.

Ben...I've always assumed from the jump that Sean Payton wanted to draft Bo Nix. The idea that he talked himself into it always seemed entirely ridiculous. I don't know why you spend so much time trying to prove the obvious. The same is also true for why he signed Jarrett Stidham however. Payton has obtained 3 quarterbacks, each one in a different way. I believe that he wanted all three of them. Fans think the NFL draft is sexier, but it's hardly the only way to find a QB...& Payton's prior history proves that. Wait till we see what happens on the field.
