Paton has made some horrible moves; hiring Hackett, trading for Russ, extending Russ, signing Randy Gregory. Very few GMs would survive those mistakes, but Sean Payton likes the power dynamic that gives him vis Paton as GM. They seem to have built a good working relationship. Further new ownership is heavily invested in Sean Payton so it’s his team now.

It seams like something is always conveniently ignored when talking about Wilson in Seattle.....when that trade happened...nearly everyone was stating how Seattle got screwed...and how good of a deal it was for Denver. When they signed Wilson to and extention without even playing a down...same thing...what a smart move. We all know the reason for signing Hackett as H.C. was to get Rodgers. The real question is this...did no one watch Wilson play in Seattle..and only looked at his stats? Btw....Seattle had the #1 defense for the first four years of Wilson's career...u can get alot of success as qb with that.

He is a puppet of Elway's through and through. And, if this team somehow keeps up this success (they are 3-2 on Oct. 12th), it will probably be because the ownership is paying off the other team and the officials. The one thing not mentioned here, and the real thing that screwed Denver over, was Paton spent TWO YEARS trying to acquire Aaron Rodgers. When it publicly failed during the 2021 NFL Draft they ended up settling on Bridgewater (His previous job was with the Vikings after all). Then in 2022 when needing an HC they hire Rodgers OC in Green Bay….Nathanial Hackett. Everyone in the organization and Denver media swears the two aren’t linked but his resume without Rodgers was mediocre at best, especially when you see how Wilson and other QBs not named Rodgers struggle in his systems. . There’s no way they made the Hackett hire thinking it wouldn’t help, if not be the last straw in landing Rodgers. When Rodgers stayed in GB they quickly pivoted to Wilson. Who knows if Rodgers works in Denver based on injuries we’ve seen but for Paton to go all in on him and come up empty was mistake one. That also made it clear how desperate he’d be for a proven franchise QB if they didn’t get Rodgers after failing the first time in 2021 hence the trade haul Seattle got and signing him to the extension before Wilson had played a game in Denver.

@DeCurtaRican6 ай бұрын
That’s a lie! Sean Payton didn’t dumb down anything for Russ, and the fact that people believe it says a lot about out how dumb they are. Paton didn’t dumb down the offense, he constrained Russ to keep him from striking the end zone or improvising and winning games. Lest you forget Payton’s talk before taking the job about how he was going to design an offense tailored to Russ’s strengths. Once he took the job, that was no longer the plan. Harbaugh and Ryans bowed out of their candidacies very quickly after speaking with ownership, and I know why: the owners asked them if they’d be willing to tank and throw Russ under the bus, and they said no! All interview content is subject to nondisclosure so no one will ever hear about it. But you can bet that’s what happened. Harbaugh was their top choice, not Payton, but Payton was willing to do what they asked. Harbaugh and Ryans weren’t willing to do it out of the tremendous respect t they have for Russ and the game. In Seattle, Russ played 10 seasons under three different O.C.’s. Brian Schottenheimer and Shane Waldron’s concepts were just as complex as Payton’s. Furthermore, it took Drew Brees two years to begin to grasp that stupid phone book of Payton’s. Payton floated that stupid lie out there because everyone wondered why he wasn’t allowing Russ to throw downfield, which is Russ’s best attribute. He lied because abuse he was trying to mask the fact that he was trying to tank! But it sounds ridiculous. Payton is asking you to believe that Teddy Bridgewater, Jameis Winston, and Taysom Hill were/are smarter than Russ, and that’s just nuts! Payton has long been proven to be a loser and a cheat! He’s still bitter that Russ deprived him of a SB back in 2013. He also doesn’t like Russ’s off-the-field persona. But Russ being too dumb to grasp Payton’s offense? Anyone who buys that line of bull is just plain dumb. He’s one of the smartest QBs people n the league by every metric. Russ couldn’t understand his playbook. Gi’me a break! He had his best years under Brian Schottenheimer, former O.C. for Andrew Luck! That playbook wasn’t easy, unless you think Andrew Luck was dumb too!

He wanted to play hero ball, he threw a tantrum at SB LV about how he should be looked at just like Mahomes and Brady. Even though he can only use 10% of an offensive playbook. As well as all of his cancerous effects of never taking responsibility individually, focusing on his brand, and wanting to be the CEO of the Broncos before he even landed in the state. [12:22] This time stamp says it all for the first twelve minutes of the video. The Offensive Line was POOR, and this was the worst Coaching job in the NFL. Basically, not Wilson’s fault… As for last season, it was not that BAD. Let’s be honest, if Wilson had reconsidered that Injury Clause, he would STILL be the Broncos Quarterback. All this propaganda about his decision making on the field disparaging his ability, is all scapegoating, for coaching failures to meet expectation. That public admonishment was a face saving move in Payton’s mind… Payton probably already had designs on the cap space he thought he would gain, and Wilson not capitulating, damaged his credibility with the new ownership, and management… Realistically, if Wilson was such damaged goods, then a measurably BETTER coach would not have signed him to be his QB1 next season, and essentially purge their quarterback room and trade his franchise’s potential future… With every success Wilson may achieve with the Steelers, will call into question Payton’s judgement and coaching prowess… 🤔

Sean Peyton is so overrated. The Broncos will go nowhere with that GM and Peyton. The best you can hope for is that those 2 clowns don't mess up your cap space in future years more than they already have. Peyton has a huge ego. It will be a 3 way race for last place with the Chargers and Raiders. Except at least the Chargers look like they have a bright future. George inherited an already dumpster fire of a team when he became GM. He made two bad moves as far as trading for Russell Wilson, and hiring Nathaniel Hackett. But he also got us Sean Payton, and had to run as GM during the transfer of ownership. He’s done a great job with his draft picks. Sure he took a couple shots right when he got there. It was an aggressive play, but I think he is way to skilled of a scout to fire. Personally I love George Paton as the GM. I believe now that he’s paired up with a veteran head coach like Sean, and the ownership is now stable, George will be able to focus on what he does best: scouting and drafting talent. Clickbaiting with George Paton blame. If there is one man who was responsible for the demise of this team, it was Pat Bowlen. He made the Broncos what they became. Then he failed to have a succession plan to keep the team what they were. When Pat was incapacitated, they were still at the top of the league. But they were left in the hands of Joe Ellis and John Elway, with no one to call them out for it. Pat would have fired John in 2017. They didn’t know what money they had to spend and no accountability. Pat left the franchise flapping in the wind while a couple of his kids tried training to be the owner. If they were ready before Pat died, they weren’t going to be ready anytime. After riding that ridiculous wave, the Bowlen kids forced a sale because they couldn’t agree on a boss between them. In the meantime, they still have to field a competitive team. We don’t know with any factual basis, only conjecture. The new owners were close to being identified and QB had been out Achilles heal. All the talking heads wanted it. But someone still had to choose what to do. Trading for Russ was a reasonable decision. We got him with two years left on his last contract for less than $25m/year. It was the Walton/Penner group who asked to redo his contract to show their commitment to spending and going for gold with the extension. We don’t know who chose Russ. We may not know who gave him the extension. We don’t know who chose Hackett. It’s convenient to blame Paton, but he was in one of the most awkward situations in the league. The Same Thing he's been doing for _FIVE YEARS, leading the league in passes behind the Line Of Scrimmage because he can't scramble free to see receivers down the field the way he used to. As a result he panics, dumps the ball off or misses easy throws as the first play outlined here shows & gains less than 4 yards on both 1st & 2nd downs. This leads to 3rd & long which is Advantage Defense. He does this over 23% of the time. So how many times does this prevent them getting a 1st & 10?
