As the Denver Broncos prepare to report to offseason workouts tomorrow, there is some REALLY good news. 70 players will report to workouts over the next few days, and 41 of them are Sean Payton guys! This is HUGE. Sean Payton is a Bill Parcels disciple who famously said "If they want you to cook the dinner, at least they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries." Sean Payton is going to cook with his own groceries! After the draft, well over half of the 53 man roster will be Sean Payton hand picked players and that is a great thing for being able to have an identifiable system. I know it's trendy to be down on this squad but we rock bottom is in the rear view and the playoffs are ahead.
I can't wait to livestream the draft right here on Sports Talk Denver and shoutout to @paytonsigers6227 who will be watching with us! Will you be there?

Now, Payton is getting what he wants for this team. We will see how he does with his own parts. Paton has been a very good drafter.

Hey Ben. Loving the positive message as always. Rehashing the good points about the new owners, the new acquisitions and the good things to look forward to in the coming months and season is great. I think Broncos Country needs help focusing on the positives because there are too many negative messages out there saying the Broncos are not good enough talent wise to be competitors. Things haven't entirely gone the way we were hoping for, this last season, but the upside of a healthy Javonte Williams and Greg Dulcich might be a pleasant payoff to boost this team ahead of where they are being graded talent wise. I'm looking for big step ups by Marvin Mims, Riley Moss and Drew Sanders. Hopefully JL Skinner too. Have you ever considered doing a mock draft so viewers can see what your thoughts are on the draft prospects? Keep up the great show Ben. Big thumbs up.

@judgejury4310 I TOTALLY agree with you. Javonte on a contract year and 2 years out from injury. Dulcich with a chip on his shoulder, Mimms getting all the Jeudy targets, Josh Reynolds on a team friendly prove it deal, today's signing of Blackson on a prove it deal. Moss with a whole offseason, Drew Sanders learning just one position- the sky is the limit! I'd never considered a mock draft but I wanted to test out the livestream stuff before the real draft so I'll have to do it! Thanks for weighing in!

Running patterns whether the balls primary or not ! You keep the coverage busy …. Then throw a block downfield on break aways

It took about 15 years of Broncos existence before they ever made the playoffs. I sat through a bunch of those games at Mile High stadium. They were a bad team for a long time. So, missing the playoffs for just eight years is not so bad. One thing is certain, wins will come again and maybe this season. One thing about the Broncos fans, we always sold-out Mile High every home game despite not winning many games. My uncle had seats in the south stands. We were in the west stands close to the 50-yard line under the first overhang. The stadium literally shook when the defense was on the field. I do remember watching Floyd Little for the offense that was three yards and a cloud of dust under coach Lou Saban. Saban was not good but he was better than Hackett.

Wow! That's so so cool to hear about! Thanks for sharing Bill. I've gone to several Broncos games but never been able to score a seat in the famous South Stands. I miss the thunder when people would stomp in the old Mile High!

@@SportsTalkDenver The long time Denver Donkey fans, such as myself, used to make that stadium shake with stamping our feet. Have not been to the new stadium so I do not have any clue about that stadium. Joined the navy and that sort of ended my game attendance. Those were the days my friends though we did not win many games.

I'm optimistic about the team and our current position, though perhaps not as much as you are. We just need a solid quarterback to really boost my confidence in our prospects, without sacrificing too much for someone who might not live up to expectations

I don't want ANYONE but peyton and paton to know what we are gonna do. LOVE all the crazy rumours out there....move up, move back, trade for Dak, bring in brady, pick a QB, pick a TE, pick a CB. I have heard ALL of these and that is GREAT!

Take this with a heaping pile of salt. I worked with a guy who played with Ryan Mallett in high school and still talked after being picked up by the Patriots. Apparently, Brady wouldn't even talk to Ryan, let alone show him the ropes. So assuming Brady does want to delay his ownership cut, I wouldn't count on Brady mentoring the next QB.
@SportsTalkDenver
@SportsTalkDenver Ай бұрын
Wow that's a small world! I think Brady was at a different stage of his career then with a lot left to prove. I think at 47 he knows it's his last hoorah but your point is a good one, he's not a great mentor
@startrek91481
@startrek91481 Ай бұрын
@SportsTalkDenver very true. This is a completely different point in his career. I think Brett Favre pushed back on the notion of mentoring Rodgers essentially saying his job was to win, not teach. But in this case I would think a mentorship would be part of the conversation before presenting a contract right up front. However, to rain on your parade. I don’t see Brady agreeing to this. I don’t think he would unretire unless he thought he could make it to a Super Bowl or possibly lead to an ownership stake. Going to Denver accomplishes none of those things. I don't think this is an SB caliber roster yet, and going to Denver would implode his talks with the Raiders. Sure, the Walton-Penners could promise a future stake, but there’s no way they could put that in writing since the NFL would come down on them like a ton of bricks, and Brady is smart enough to not agree to something based on a handshake and a wink.

I can't blame Jeudy. It had to be frustrating to play with Russ as a precision route runner. Everybody is calling you a bust and you can't do anything about it because your quarterback is an improviser.

The moves made and message sent to a dysfunctional team is culture is changing. This is a building year and finding a core to move forward. Paton is a decent scout, not GM. Paton gets credit for no brainer moves, he also made one of the worst trades ever and wiffed in later rounds - mediocre draft performance. Patience man, next year will be bumpy. Thanks appreciated.

Bruh, why are you spending so much time talking about if Brady came out of retirement to Denver lol. As a Denver die hard fan I’d literally hate that 😂😂 most Denver fans I know hate Brady - one of my least favorite players in the league - I don’t care if he’s the GOAT, his attitude and character suck… I’m curious what your thoughts on this are!
