I think we'll see Bo have chemistry with a lot of the pass catchers since he knows where to go with the ball and gets the ball out quickly. I expect to see some great passing in TC. Hope it translates to regular season game day. Excited to see how he does against 1st team defense.

Saw BO play in college and he is just exactly what you said. Just be himself and he will do fine. He is the "man" on the field while he is on the field. I thought he should take #12. He made a lot of adjustments on his own without coaching staff input, which is why an Arizona State defender called Nix a "field general". Nix also sat in on coaches meetings to listen and provide his input on how the offense should work. Bo's football IQ and leadership skills are exceptional.

@@jstrig A lot of college QBs in the Air Raid system make adjustments. In point of fact, that is what the Air Raid is about. A QB who has been in that system for 5 years is obviously going to be better at it than a guy who has been in it two years, which is why Nix was not that impressive at Oregon. But to be clear about your point, one of the things Sean Payton had a problem with Russell Wilson with was the fact that he did not stick to the play Payton called & ad-libbed a lot. In other words, he was going outside the framework of the play. That's what you're excited to see in Bo Nix? Re-think that one. That ability is also NOT the same thing as working in an NFL passing game, & certainly not the same as working in Sean Payton's offense, which is one of the most complex in the NFL, merging elements of all three primary NFL offenses into one hybrid scheme. Nix played for Gus Malzahn who basically created the famed no huddle-hurry up concepts that Auburn used & that both of his OCs at Oregon (Kenny Dillingham & Will Stein) used. That philosophy allows the offense to dictate the personnel on the field since the defense has no time to substitute. In the college spread offenses like the Air Raid one he was playing in, the goal is to match speed up against slower players on the perimeter & stretch the defense horizontally beyond it's ability to cover the wide side of the field, which is 3 yards wider on one side than the NFL field due to the hash marks. This kind of pace game creates a massive force multiplier for teams with a distinctive talent advantage like the Ducks had over their opponents. It's why you frequently see Nix throwing to wide open receivers. He will not see that in the NFL. This is also why NIx was far from dominant in the SEC for Auburn but excelled against PAC 12 defenses. Being a guy with a high football IQ works in the NFL if you can read post snap defenses & make the correct decision almost every time in less than 2.5 seconds. You know who is currently on our roster who has been praised by Sean Payton as a guy who can do that? It's not Bo Nix. We don't have any idea if he can do it or not. It's Jarrett Stidham. On at least two occasions in interviews he gave, Payton went out of his way to praise Stidham as a guy with a high football IQ, one who can read NFL defenses & get the ball out quickly but also can stand in there & take a hit while he waits on a receiver to get open. He's not the only one. Multiple NFL scouts have noticed this also, & so have players on the Raiders, 49ers & Bronco receivers as well. In point of fact, those who were paying close attention last preseason & in his two starts at the end of the year, also saw it. What I am saying here is that Stidham, who played in the same offense Nix did & for the same coach, had to sit for three years in some of the best QB rooms in the NFL which included Tom Brady, before he was deemed ready to start. That's not because he lacked intelligence, it's because he was taught verey little in the college offense he played in. When he signed him, Payton himself said he saw Stidham as a potential starter after he'd been with Brady, Belichick & McDaniels. The Denver press either doesn't remember this or they choose not to talk about it. Don't be surprised if the guy who left the offense Nix played in after only 2 years for an NFL QB room & has been in one for 4 years now is the starter when the 2024 season gets here.

They way people are reaching for every single thing they can find to hype this kid up is crazy. Case in point; Nix is being lauded as "focused on football" and for how he carries himself because he said he has not made any big purchases after signing his contract. That's probably because he signed it less than 24 hours before the reporter asked him that stupid question. What was he going to do...buy a house & a Ferrari on his lunch hour at day 1 in mini-camp? We're even trying to find something bad to say about other first round QBs based on throwing a few passes to guys in shorts. Ridiculous. Good lord let this kid have some time to grow, learn the playbook, learn how to be an NFL quarterback & develop at a reasonable pace. The insanity that is constantly lauding the tiniest thing he does as a miraculous sign from heaven that he's the next Drew Brees is a subtle way for the media to align themselves with what fans want to hear because it makes for positive advertising revenue. Nobody wants to be the voice of reason & suggest that Nix might have a ways to go before he's ready because that won't attract fans who want to ride the hype train. The truth is, Nix has never had to make the kind of reads in college that he's going to have to make in the NFL. He played in a VERY quarterback friendly system for 4 of his 5 seasons that is one of the weakest in terms of what it teaches that has value in the NFL. He's going to make mistakes & he's going to have a learning curve. About once a decade a rookie QB comes along who starts from the jump & performs like CJ Stroud. It's enough that he's got Payton in the room with him. We don't need all the rest of this sensationalism.

Do some research folks, every hometown reporter reporting on their NEW QB draft pick is super positive. You would think that every drafted QB selected is going to be the next Tom Brady based on the reporting. We will only know what we got once the kid actually starts to play against a real NFL defense. Time will tell -- not local hometown reporters.

Age definitely CAN mean a lot in terms of maturity. And Nix just frankly is more mature than most rookies. He's married, got more life experience, etc. It doesn't always mean everything but it can and in Bo's case -- it does.

He's lucky Payton wanted the kid badly enough and took him at 12. Lets slow down guys. Nix is not all that. He was the 12th not 1st pick. He can help us this year.Would be a win if we get 5 to 6 wins this year. Hey, the O line will be key. Nix is underrated. Nix is, by far, the most productive and accurate QB in the draft. He led the country in 7 out of 13 PFF QB categories including beating the blitz, outside the pocket, etc etc. Nix produced over 50 total TDs last season, broke the accuracy record, 2nd in total yards, on and on and on. He will likely be the most successful QB in this draft.

If the O line still sucks...Nix will have his head handed to him. He made a living off of dink--and-dump in college, defensive coordinators in the NFL will quickly take that away. I'd like to see what Wilson got, if Zach shines in training camp, let him start and let Nix watch. Groom the kid slowly, don't do what the Jets did to Wilson. Follow the Mahomes model.
