Bo Nix completed the Denver Broncos' rookie minicamp over the weekend and showed A TON of potential in Sean Payton's offense. Is Bo Nix already ahead of his predecessors, like Russell Wilson and Drew Lock, at this point in his Denver Broncos' career? Is working under center Bo Nix's biggest learning curve in Sean Payton's offense? Additionally, will Audric Estime be the Denver Broncos' starting running back over Javonte Williams, Samaje Perine and Jaleel McLaughlin? All of that and more is answered on the DNVR Broncos Podcast mailbag.

Shout out to Todd Davis. I remember hearing him (shortly after he retired) as a phone-in analyst to different sports networks early in his media career. He has improved DRASTICALLY since then and has really found his groove as a media personality. As a player he was very underappreciated in those legendary defenses as well. Wishing ol thunder nothing but the best!

Rookie mini camp comes to an end. And the result, impressive. All 7 rookies did incredibly well. But Nix, Vele, Estimé, and undrafted rookie RB Blake Watson stood out the most. Rookie mini camp is all about getting the new players adapted to professional schemes. They’re evaluated on, how quick are they picking up what’s being coached, do they understand their job, and do they understand the offense/defense. With most of the attention on rookie QB Bo Nix, he did not disappoint. He hit receivers in stride, picked up the system quick, made difficult throws in tight windows and showed he was in full command of the offense. But it wasn’t all Nix that impressed the staff. Utah receiver Devaughn Vele turned some heads as well. He struggled in college to finish catches. But in camp he demonstrated what a valuable asset he can be. Built like a TE, but with receiver skillset. He boxed out defenders, made contested catches, and is an immaculate route runner. Audric Estimé and Blake Watson made themselves known as well. Watson, RB out of Memphis, was a receiver turned TB. He made good catches from Nix out in the flats, he was patient waiting for running lanes to develop and really picked up the offense. Estimé did rather well himself. He may not be the fastest running back but he’s tough to bring down. One thing that Payton really liked was his skills as a blocking RB. The rookies are really flourishing in Sean Payton’s old school complex offense. They’ll get another chance to showcase their talents at mandatory minicamp just before OTA’s. Who were you most impressed with?

In a dream scenario, having a RB like Estime having the potential to be almost like a Lynch type runner would be amazing, but the fact Williams is coming back off injury and has that experience; it makes sense to have him being the starter. That being said, imagine having Estime fulfill potential and becomes a freight train of a RB? Would be insane to see. So excited for the Broncos this next season, so hyped!!

No he's not ahead of anybody in the NFL. Yet...Let's see how he does under center with full pads in a pre-season game and an NFL defense coming at him full speed. This isn't Oregon any more and the NFL is twice as fast. Until we see the things he can do under pressure and he's able to adjust to the NFL speed of attack. He's just a rookie trying to figure it out.

look, guys. The broncos didn't get this bad overnight. I think it started when Pat left the daily operations. (R.I.P. Mr. Bowlen) My point is: The broncos are not going to right the ship overnight either. They have laid a great foundation for the long term, but I am preaching patience.

You can't judge Javonte Williams by last season. Running backs who return from major knee injuries almost ever perform well in the first season back. The fact that he came back AT ALL last year is amazing considering when he sustained the injury. We don't know till this year if he's back to form or not, but if he is he won't be easy to dislodge as the starter.The best case scenario is he looks great & Estame does too, giving us two sledge hammer backs that can rotate & keep each other fresh.

You guys really despise Russell Wilson don't you? He's gone...let it go. Call me when Nix plays in an actual NFL game. I guess you think Wilson won more games than any other QB in history over his first 10 years because he was too stupid to remember what plays are called. Maybe he was lucky that he took the Seahawks to 9 straight playoff appearances & made the pro bowl every year from his rookie season onward till he ran into Nathaniel Hackett. I've been a Bronco fan since long before any of you were born, & I've never lived through anything like the hatred the media & the fan base has for this man. It' literally pathological now. How long will you keep this up...another year? Five? Ten years? When will it be enough for you to move on?

@@darfoster7773 This is perhaps the single stupidest argument ever concocted about Russell Wilson. Literally EVERY quarterback in NFL history who has won on that level has had a great team around him. The NFL is not a one man game. Terry Bradshaw won four Super Bowls with one of the best defenses in NFL history behind him & Franco Harris, Lynn Swann & a great offensive line. He wins none without those guys. But nobody ever claims Bradshaw sucked & only won because he had a great supporting cast, probably because he's a southern redneck white man instead of a black man with a masters degree. I guess you think the Seahawks had the best roster in NFL history between 2012 & 2020. Guess what? They didn't.

OH! MY!! Can we stop with the Russell Willson case, as a great QB!!! Russell Wilson would not have even been Oregons QB. Over any of the top six, maybe seven QB’s in college last year; if it was dependent on him playing from the pocket!!!!!!! I know your just using it as show material, but, Without Pete Carrol, Russell Wilson would have been just another failed draft pick. Ruined by another inadequate NFL coaching staff! And another lost name to history, of failed QB draft picks.

Pete Carroll was a defensive coach. He was not responsible for Wilson being a 9 time pro bowler or winning more games than any QB over his first decade in the league than any QB in NFL history. Carroll was a mediocre 47-49 before Wilson. With Wilson he went 105-55, went to the playoffs 8 straight years, won a Super Bowl & went to another. When I hear this kind of thing i know I am looking at one of two things; a fan who knows shit about the NFL game, or somebody who has some other reason for hating Wilson besides his play on he field.
@ronweber4508
@ronweber4508 25 күн бұрын
@@user-zr4km5ns8t As a broncos fan living in Seahawk country, and the open book that was Russ and Pete’s relationship, you obviously have little understanding what made that team work. IT ALL depended on have Russell Wilson in the only two lineups Russ was able to run. 1: scramble (play action) pass. 2: handoff for a run. Bothe of these he possibly had the option to run, like has happened to so many Rookie QB’s. I don’t hate Russ. He doesn’t have the skillset for this. So yes, if not for Pete Carroll, Russ would probably be on the trash hero if discarded rookie QB’s. And no, I don’t think your and idiot for not knowing any of this. But it’s obvious, you haven’t done the deep dig on this story. I’ve had to listen to all of the excuses for Russ for a decade now; LET RUSS COOK, which Russ started. And tried to get Pete fire and Sean Payton fired at Seattle. Pete Tried what Russ wanted for about three games, then made him go back to the only two thing Russ is able to do (mentioned above). Russ wants to play pocket to save his body, so he can play into hi 40’s like Tom Brady (those are Russell Wilson’s words, from an interview). And the Seahawks had a pretty good coaching staff, that didn’t ruin Russ

@@ronweber4508 You're a Seahawks troll in here? Why does that not surprise me? You' guys are like the jilted woman who can't tear herself away, stalking your ex with some weird need to constantly gossip about them. Break it down however you want to. Wilson won 105 games in his first decade in the NFL. He started Do you know who else won that many? NOBODY. NOBODY IN NFL HISTORY won 105 games in their first decade. Do the math bud...Pete Carroll BEFORE Russell Wilson...mediocre sub-.500 coach with a 47-49 record. Pete Carroll WITH Russell Wilson...105-53-1, 8 playoff runs, 9 pro bowls trips by his QB, two conference championships, 1 Super Bowl trophy. Wilson started 165 out of 168 games for you, an extraordinary record of insane durability that is magnified by virtue of the fact that he took so many sacks & hits. This guy was the 3rd leading rusher in NFL history among all QBs, behind only Vick & Newton, he had the second highest QB rating in NFL history, the 2nd highest 4th quarter rating, & finished with a ridiculous 6.2% of his throws for TD's, a figure higher than Brady, Manning or Mahomes. Wilson made Carroll, not the other way around. Instead of whining like little middle school girls about him, you should be throwing this guy parades in Seattle. Your longest sustained success & only Super Bowl title in franchise history came because of him. What has your team done since he left...when you supposedly benefited from that huge draft windfall you got? Oh right...nothing. NADA. You're stuck in that no-mans land of mediocrity. Now you've got a rookie coach who has never been the head guy, an aging QB your fan base knows is on the down side, & you're going to finish 3rd in the division again. Remember all those division titles & playoff games you had with Wilson? Gone now...back to irrelevance for the Seahawks.
