What I liked best of all about this video is her omafiets, a truly recognisable image for this Dutchman! 😊

Nicole is one of the strongest advocates I know in Denver. She uses a bike for most of her transportation needs and is living proof that it is possible. Cant' think of too many people who would be as good of a guide to get around Denver.

The only city in the USA I ever visited (for work) was Denver. I saw a lot of improvement from the time I was there (2009).
@ActiveTowns7 күн бұрын
Yeah, it's been amazing how much has changed/improved since then... I worked in downtown Denver off and on from 1996 through 2005, and it is nearly unrecognizable in many locations. Thanks so much for watching and for the comment. Cheers! John

thanks for the great tour! looks amazing and really functional. wouldnt it be awesome if they would add at some point tram as well! are there any plans to revitalize the old system?
@ActiveTowns8 күн бұрын
You are quite welcome. Yes, the network is coming together. No, the old street car/tram lines are not coming back anytime soon, unfortunately.

A lot of changes and more needed as far as protected bike lanes and slower traffic.

Yes, indeed! 🙌

Otherwise what strikes me is the insane amount of concrete in nearly every frame. The cycling infrastructure itself seems quite ok, so that’s hopeful!

Yes, 💯 we need to launch a serious depaving initiative in general here in North America.

I would like for all cities to have wheelchair quality sidewalks on all streets within 1/4 mile of a school. After all parents, who walk their elementary school child to school frequently are families who also walk babies.
@ActiveTowns6 күн бұрын
Yep. It seems like a bare minimum requirement.

I'm my city , someone drives in the protected bike lanes more often than you would think 😂 ... no one has been hurt lol

That's concerning... unfortunately, there have been far too many fatalities associated with this behavior. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers! John

Still TOO car-oriented, it could be better and there is money but it is probably being used incorrectly, such as expanding (motor)ways. A motorway AROUND the city is a better idea than straight through the cities, less traffic, quieter, more walking/cycling areas, where have I seen such good infrastructure before🤔.....oh yes!, in my country of birth...the Netherlands! Make public transport better and more attractive, but then you have the car manufacturers up in arms again of course, so they start lobbying again and make the bus so unattractive But hey, they will get there (hopefully), although it will probably take decades
@ActiveTowns8 күн бұрын
Yep! Agreed 💯

We’re certainly trying to push Denver in that direction!

@@nicolefromnola now only the implementation, I looked at it on google maps, a bypass is not possible, so the option to make streets NARROWER is an option and not GIGANTICALLY wide streets for those antisocial cars like pickups or family cars that are just like city buses... Maybe a ban on cars over 4850 lbs and lengths? Or levy extra taxes (weight or emissions) that way you force people to drive smaller and maybe they will want to take public transport (if it is also made decent and runs on time) and LESS parking spaces. I have seen the videos of NotJustBikes and others, horrible
