Those rooms can have two purposes. Private meeting rooms to view specimens and stones and make deals from “prying” eyes, and for some vendors to have a little more storage space. Hardrock is for high end collectors and retailers. Example, the Spanns (very nice people) have spent millions on their collection. The original Denver Gem & Mineral Show is the one organized by the area council of rock clubs as the annual fundraiser for the clubs. We used to be much bigger but we (and 2 other shows) lost our venue in 2020 (sold & torn down) and we could not find another as large & affordable. Hardrock supports us at their venue as we provide educational exhibits. AGTA was in the same hall as Hardrock but you needed trade credentials for that side.

I couldn’t tell if those were the vendors booth in this room or were they rooms like he said for negotiating and for private deals like they were where certain vendors were expected to sell out of and showcase out of which is a little odd but maybe it’s both either way it was fantastic and a honor to go to

@@lapidarydave Thank you for coming and filming. I'm really lucky to have these shows where I live every September and it's nice of you to share them with the world. Sorry that you weren't quite comfortable downstairs but I also get why. The clubs are there to introduce the average person to rock collecting or encourage novices so definitely a different vibe. BTW I was volunteering at one of the club tables on Monday and caught about a 1/2 second of me as you entered the main room! 😁

That hippo carving is cool.

I heard the show was empty; but I didn’t expect it to be so sparsely attended. Hard to believe this was filmed during the show!

Hi Dave, the Persian turquoise (from Iran) comes from mainly two mines (there are more). The stones you usually see in US or from dealers in US are mostly very low grade and usually stabilized pieces from Kerman (which is what I see in your video here). Even this mine has some fantastic natural pieces. However, the high grade stones from both the Nishapur mine (the very well known Persian turquoise comes from this mine) and Kerman (Shahr-e Babak, Meydook mine) usually stays in the country because of the demand and they are absolutely Natural with no treatment or sometimes they will be exported to some of the neighboring countries in the region who are willing to pay high prices for the stones. I am originally from Iran but have been living in US for long time now. I don't see that quality at all here in US (I sometimes see only some high grade stones in some high end jewelries from 60s or 70s in US and they are extremely expensive). I wish you could travel to Iran to see the quality of stones and purchase there.

What a stupid ‘Rock karen’ to have done that to you! AND wasted the police’s time - there’s always one that ruins it. Im so glad you made that announcement about the Saturday sale- I was so sad wondering why I couldn’t get in. 😢 Great video as always- appreciate you! ❤

Those people are out of their minds asking those prices for some of those pieces! Those were I don't want to sell it prices. Elon Musk could spend his whole fortune there! Sup Dave!

Dave, you mentioned the lady who called the cops on you for filming her specimens. What can the cops do? Are you breaking a law by not getting permission to film?

ok bud I am not wanting to critique you right now because well... you need to be lifted but ... I was just wondering if you are able to make the volume any louder I think my ears are going bad and well... im hard of hearing you dude... but I really really love your video

No I’m sorry on this video it just is what it is. My phone fell into a lake and the volume was screwed forever on that particular phone. The good news is that this is also the phone that I broke today so I’ll be using a different one so the volume should be better.
