Seems like bounty hunters shouldn't have convictions for violent crimes or sexual assault. Might be time to change some laws if they're allowed to have previous convictions for robbery and false imprisonment.
@SpartacusColo29 күн бұрын
Why? How many bounty hunters are out there who have caused no problems? How many apprehensions have occurred without such incidents? It seems the checks and balances are working alright since this guy is caught and in jail. 1st Stop Bail Bonds can also get sued for this.

Im a retired county law enforcement officer. Ive leaned to loathe todays Bounty Hunters. And America got flooded with them after thst dumb Dog The Bounty Hunter tv show. Every buffoon thought they can be a "DOG:. All ststes must develop tough regulations ,licensing for Bounty Hunters.
@mrwonderful2142Ай бұрын
My state will not give licenses to them. Our residents would introduce them to the business end of the second amendment It's law enforcement's job to go after anyone with arrest warrants, and if the warrant is from another state they won't bother if the issuing state doesn't care enough to extradite them out of here.

@mrwonderful2142 Look I get the necessity of Bounty. But also as a Retired county law enforcement officer,,might I state we never had enough time n $$ to go after all bond jumpers. FYI ,, Ive bern retired near 30 yrs. The staff shortage, money crunch in law enforcement agencies is not new. So dont get pissy with us. Unless ,until you pay a lot more in taxes to fund more law enforcement officers.
@williamthomas461729 күн бұрын
@@arthurcharlesstewart4617 my police department received $256 million dollars, this year. My sheriff’s department received $160 million. That’s a huge part of the city’s budget. Officers are getting six figure salaries, and treating the citizens that pay them like trash. These highly payed officers will show up six deep for a minor parking violation, which suggests they have more than enough resources. So, don’t get pissy with us… just because citizens expect you to work more, and spend less time eating donuts with your mistress (on the taxpayers’ dollar).
@wolverineeagle29 күн бұрын
@@williamthomas4617 Basic logic would tell you that there cannot be enough officers to effectively police millions. NYC had 34,000 cops for 8 million people. It’s an outlier. LA has a fraction of that as do most cities. Citing a budget is a bit misleading. We all know government wastes huge sums of money. For example, $700 billion is spent annually on k-12 education yet many schools cry poverty. If citizens wouldn’t treat each other like crap we wouldn’t need cops. Alas, they can’t help themselves. Raging against cops while ignoring the far more prevalent criminality of citizens is fucking stupid.

What extra measures need to be instituted? 1st Stop Bail Bonds should get sued into oblivion for hiring a criminal for such work, and this type of hunter should be locked up for the offenses they've committed. Private contractors can be background checked: they can legally affirm that they have no criminal record at the very least.

There needs to be background checks, accountability when anyone takes another person into their care, control, or custody. Doctors, nurses, cops, psychologists,military,paramedics are all given background checks, so why not a bounty hunter? Bounty hunters are allowed to use techniques for taking people into their custody that cops are not allowed, so they should be given a backgoiund check just as much as any cop.

I never knew much about bounty hunters where I grew up because I later found out.. it's illegal in NY. (might have changed since I left).. But honestly, I see them breaking the law all the time.. they ignore so many laws because they are not police.. So they also don't have anyone making sure they follow the law.

I had a career in bail bonds for 25 years. Only once did I ever hire a team to recover one of my clients. They did the job with no problems. The rest of the recoveries I performed myself because I didn't want to end up in a news story like this one and, thankfully, I never did. Glad to be retired from it these days. Cashless bail and liberal courts, the growing disdain for the law and no consequences / no 'skin in the game' revolving door justice have ruined the industry.

I had bounty hunters showing up at my rental in Glenwood Springs CO, one pretending to be a US Marshall, two coming around twice in a month. My boss rented out a house a block away to some kind of investigators, all watching my house. He thought it was funny they had replaced a front window with a two way mirror. I had fun with it, flipping them off as I walked by and talking sh@t to them. This was all because the previous renters won the lottery, took out huge loans they didn't pay back and funded all their friends meth habits for a while and pissed off God knows whoever who took out bounties for them. I even brought take-out to one of them pretending to be homeless. The real US Marshalls where the real clowns. I laughed and called them idiots when one dressed up as a Rastafarian greeting another man in full character. It was so hilarious. Colorado scrapes the bottom of the barrel for cops while the bounty hunters are found in the sh@t pile under the barrel.

Most of those "courses" only teach the hands on detainment and arrest part, the good ones recommend a BA in criminal justice or criminal investigation. If there isn't an exeption in the state's laws, you're supposed to get deputized to gain the right legal powers - otherwise you'll wind up pleading the fifth over violating someone's 4th. (If you avoid kidnapping charges) Advantage: You aren't held to department policies. Disadvantage: You have to follow the laws like every other civilian.
