Sadly, a large part of why this scene is great is because we all want to believe justice like this takes place.

Yeah sort of. But it presupposes that the distinction between bad and good is obvious, whereas in real life the line is often blurred.

Even more noble ...is that he made sure he did the MINIMUM damage to the nice guy along them, who he understood was not callous nor sadistic (and probably asked the others to stop hurting the girl) ... but was just a coward influenced by bullies. What exactly did they do to the girl though? I just don't have the experience nor the imagination to figure that one out. To me, Denzel Washington has always been a fine actor and he's only gotten better. As he's gotten older, he's gained a real gravitas wherein some of his most compelling scenes have very little dialog and sometimes very little action. His face, eyes, and mere presence are enough to convey everything the audience needs to know.

However if Amy was, as suggested abused/sexually assaulted then they did get off lightly because 1) They are still breathing and 2) Their Genitalia are still attached and not rammed halfway down their throats. My favorite scene in the movie. He calmly informs them that they messed up, that hurting someone who couldn't adequately resist was wrong. The leader walks over to the door and locks it thinking he's trapped Robert in with them, unaware that he's trapped himself and his bros in with Robert. Then, calmly, Robert inflicts pain. He seems to start to lose his calm when he grabs Junior by the head, but regains it to, once again calmly, snap his fingers. Love it. Phillip Rhee (Best of the Best movies) keeps cool, too. But not like McCall.

@@elrondhubbard7059 community driven only in that the community votes - based solely upon innocent until proven guilty standards - & then publicly executed. So instead of like hey this dudes gonna get toted off to prison after the judge sentences him to death, it's more like okay. Take him outside. Let everyone decide what we do to the person. Idc. Do that a few times & rape becomes non existent. and so will other heinous crimes.

@@jrzgcwrocks Right, so I'll start a rumour about you and get the neighbourhood to hate you based on lies I've made up, and then the public will decide you're guilty because they're really angry, and then the crowd starts yelling _'BURN THEM'_ or _'RIP THEIR GUTS OUT'_ Maybe me, the person who made the whole thing up, is also in the crowd voting on whether you're guilty and what kind of punishment you'll get. It's community driven!

@@elrondhubbard7059 you're failing to realize this all taking place in a court room. I said judge. I still require a jury trial, but the sentencing is no longer bullshit. It would be take them outside. And take their fucking life away from them as they have forfeited their right to it. so your rumor example is horseshit. i want to see people get toted outside after they're found guilty *by a jury of their peers* and taken care of. right then. no wasted time. no wasted money.
