Probably one of the best intro's / dialogues scene in an action movie. Such a natural dialogue between 2 warriors getting 2 know each other b4 they become enemies.
@marcussabom2696
@marcussabom2696 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call the abusive father a warrior. A few reasons. 1. He never actually fought Denzel, he let his brother and friends do it. 2. Denzel stopped his timer before he addressed the father, ergo, Denzel did not consider him to be a threat. 3. Despite, on the surface, it seeming to be a friendly gesture, the mere fact that he demanded the bartender to serve Denzel despite the bartender clearly stating that the bar was closed indicates he has no problem pushing around people he considers "beneath" him. It's a small thing, but still telling. Had he said something like, "He said the bar is closed, sorry buddy." We'd have a slightly different indication of his character being this is a guy who will speak for a little guy and probably not some jerk who kidnaps his daughter just to get back at the mother. Conclusion, dude was a bully, plain and simple, and he did what all bullies do when they're faced with someone who won't take their shit, he cowered.

Denzel Washinton is one of those actors who is so good at what he does that he simply becomes the character he is playing and you almost forget its him. Hanks is another one like this. They've been in so many movies, but they just melt into the character. Many actors/actresses aren't as convincing.

I love how calm he is during his actions. Explaining everything step by step, so the dumbest guy can understand. He always tells them his motivation, why he is here and why the others get beaten up, OR can prevent it. Or with the words of Vigo (John Wick): He is a man of focus, shear will ...

He looks like a little, skinny Tyrus in the medium shot at 2:00, tho, normally, there's nothing little about Mr. Washington. His faith, in real life, is a considerable inspiration. And he doesn't drink alcohol anymore. A true icon and role-model. He's so powerful in his calm and quiet manner while he's doing the exposition to the first bad dude. Beware the wrath of a quiet man.

This scene was entertaining to me but now I understand it completely. I ended up in a situation where I had two sprained feet and two twisted knees. I couldn't bear any weight and couldn't bend my knees. I couldn't even get up the stairs to get to my bed. So for 3.5 weeks I didn't leave a couch in my living room. The pain involved to try to get better was intense. The time required and the pain involved has altered my attitude towards how I treat my body. It's been 6 weeks now and I walk with some pain but I'm walking. But my life has changed.
