Personally i give ring rust as a potential out for Wilder last performance. Hopefully as he been saying the Old Wilder is back. Zhang’s always had a questionable gas tank but Wilder’s a one-trick pony (bad footwork, bad technique, poor endurance, poor fundamentals). Zhang is more skilled and has a variety of ways to put Wilder out but the southpaw’s biggest weakness is the best (and only) punch Wilder throws: The straight right. This fight is a toss up because both guys have their obvious flaws but Zhang is the better boxer and has more weapons at his disposal.

I suppose most pundits will go for Zhang, but I have a strange feeling about Wilder this time, I think he’s going to bring it. No disrespect to Parker who performed great, and has a more complete skills set, but Wilder never really showed up for that fight. This time his demeanour suggests he knows it’s his last chance to remind everyone what he can do. But he needs to be smart, stay out of trouble and keep the big fella on the move in the early rounds because when he gets tired, Zhang gets hit (we saw it with Hirgovic) and one clean shot is all Wilder needs. The general Wilder blueprint to neutralize his right hand is kind of widely known now (look for Ben Davison's videos prior to Fury Wilder 2). Wilder needs to add more to his arsenal like a solid left hand -- at least in a check hook fashion if not adding the left hook in general.

So if you can keep that hand up either defending or in anticipation of an incoming punch, you neutralize the right hand's effectiveness. Wilder has proven that he has 0 desire to learn the skill and art of boxing. Using the left hand to anchor onto the opponent so he can have leverage while throwing the right is his only proficient skill. If he can actually learn how to fight effectively while moving backwards without tripping over his clunky feet, he may see another championship. At this point in the game, he's been exposed as a 1 trick pony. Definitely a smart bet for the betting man - I cannot see this going to the cards. No way this will go to points decision. Either way this will end in a stoppage. On paper, boxing aficionados might prefer the more technically proficient Zhang but given one mistake or just a lucky shot - that red right hand from Wilder can never be discounted.
