Happy 40th Birthday to Everything Counts. Forty years ago today, on Monday July 11, 1983, the song was released. I really like the early work of Depeche Mode and this piece in particular. Today I saw the video for the first time. Berlin in the eighties. My city! How cool! In four decades, the boys have come a long way. A few days ago, in July 2023, they played twice in the Olympic Stadium. And I am sure that Depeche Mode will not lose its connection to Berlin in the future either. Many thanks and congratulations from Germany!

It's weird there is people who expect or at least 'not look for' before an artist shows there is something wrong on society. From marxist to capitalists there are a lot of fake people with fake purposes. On marxists there is a more subtle and perverse humanitarianism face when is really a deeper sophisticated ego of not tolerating the natural differences from every person's potential: hierarchy and meritocracy. And Capitalist is the most visible face of ego because is the axis who receive the money profit and push politics in their favor. On the other hand: (Politically) Left is more 'rights', Right is more 'duties'. Something like this make me think politics is not a equality of reason from side to side.

This is really such a cool and underrated song. I love how Depeche Mode was able to merge the heavier, industrial sound with their lighter and melodic synths--it sounds great, it's unique, it's danceable while not being too light. The lyrics were always top as well--meaningful, unique, personal. I wish we had more music like this now, even among the 80s and 90s artists Depeche mode were very unique. I discovered Depeche Mode 3 years ago when I was 27, and they're probably my favorite group. I hope to see them in concert for the first time this year on their European tour. Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to do so before Fletch's passing. RIP Andy Fletcher

I really hope you’re going to see them-I’m just turning 48 and I’ve loved them since the 80’s, but never managed to see them live, always something to prevent it (never mind that it’s an overnight trip: I’m in central Arkansas, the closest they ever come is Dallas, about 5.5 hours away)...until last month in San Antonio, at only the 5th show on the tour. Hands down, best concert I’ve ever been to, period! Dave’s energy as a frontman is amazing, even still at 60, and it’s infectious-the whole arena was up dancing and singing through the whole show. Of course DM are known for their amazing live shows, and they certainly did not disappoint!

I never saw DM live in the 80's or 90's, but now that they are coming to Vancouver in November 2023, it's a must on the bucket list at age 57. One of the most iconic bands to come out of the 80's. Still performing and writing music over 42 years later. Incredible! Totally underrated genius's at melody, lyrics, composition and harmony. Never mind the artistic contribution made video wise, to the birth of the MTV era. Brilliant stuff ! See you guys soon. God bless you.

One of their interviews popped up on my recommendations on KZbin the other night about 2 a.m. So I watched it.. Then another one. Then their music videos and more interviews.. Then I went to Google to look up why who left when and Gahan's bout with drugs and alcohol, etc... And it just went on and on... It was a little after 6 a.m. before I realized what time it was. Now, I decided to watch a few of their music videos again for shits and giggles and nostalgic reasons. I miss my childhood and teenage years in the 80s.

Proper musicians and songwriters usually are and express what they see and feel musicly and lyrically. Unfortunately the present pile of putrid horse manure passed off as music today is a sad indictment of the music industry. Corporate shills and manufacted pop puppets who have never put the spade work in playing the pub and club circuits and will be forgotten in less than a year.
