Chills... literal chills. Possibly one of the most beautiful ballads I have ever heard. Dave's voice is extraordinary here. Why couldn't we get this version instead of the Ben Hillier dud?

Like they shared during that recent Apple Music interview, they seriously needed to de-clutter their approach, process, production, and arrangements. I think "Ghosts Again" is a brilliant example of this. It's unfathomable -- not to mention utterly disappointing -- that they handed a hit song like this to Ben Hillier and it turned into that album version. This is right up there with "Home", "Blue Dress", et al. I get that they need to be challenged and evolve, but what's more enjoyable than DM sounding like DM? There's a happy medium in there somewhere.

These demos are worlds apart from the finished product we got. How does this happen? This is excellent. The album version is not good. This actually sounds like Depeche Moro, not what we have been getting in the last few albums.

I really like this, and for me, this one and "Secret to the end" are definitely better than the album versions, but I've learned not to be disappointed and to enjoy all the released versions. The underlying orchestration on the chorus surreal and takes me far away..

Ben Hillier was not a good fit for DM. He likes techo and pure synth stuff. DM are and have always been mix of that and a real more down to earth sound. Personally I think after Alan left Martin did get more involved but I think the band just left it mostly to the producer. Dam shame. there could of been a good album in there.
