maybe he wears outrageous outfits to help him cope with his serious stage fright. it also helped when he was buzzed/drunk (which was during every tour but the last one). he downplays what he wore in the 80s but i think it was a great compliment to their music and image. he only toned it down when the press became fixated on that one thing. imagine how far he could've taken it if there wasn't a backlash? Black Celebration anyhow.

I have always had this idea, if a woman can wear men’s clothing and still look damn sexy as a female in it, it means they are very feminine.
