Until these early DM videos started appearing on KZbin I always thought it was Vince who played lead synth like Alan who replaced him. However it seems that Martin is the one who did all the live donkey work back in the early days!

Vince Clarke used to play with Depeche Mode. Later he formed Yazoo (Yaz) and then Erasure. He is actually in this video. (Before Alan Wilder took over).

Analogue synths had a much better rudimentary sound...they sounded raw...a lot edgier and much less contrived...amazing song..performance and from my youth...Futurism!!!!

Great performance. The only downside is that they couldn't produce that crashing electronic noise just before the instrumental.

Nice to see that I'm not the only one with this opinion! As I said, it's not so surprising, Dave have had a lot of problems...And recently he was admitted to hospital, "stumach problems". I suspect he's on drugs again... This is an answer to "takemedave", if I don't manage to do right. lolmmoldypotato: Was that for me? I'm sorry, english isn't my langauge so I sometimes spell wrong!

Noooo....How can you say that?! Dave's so full of life and "joi de vivre" in these early videos. Nowadays he seems so...I don't know, can't find the word now. Tired, worn out (is that the correct expression? I'm Swedish, so you have to forgive me for my poor spelling and use of expressions). Not surprising of course, considerring the things he've been through. I'm not saying he's no good now, he is, but I think it's more fun and heartwarming to watch him when he was younger!
