I have a problem with my Crop-o-dial catching too. From what I have figured out so far it might be because when I set it down I slightly push in the lock button and then when I crimp something it catches.

The Crop-A-Dile sticks because the locking pin slides into it's locking hole when you squeeze the device down. It happens to me all the time. It is the locking pin. Just push the locking pin back out. Don't yank or pry it apart.
