This game is frequently on sale in the Nintendo eShop and I was worried it was shovelware. This convinced me its more than worth it for the price! Thank you!

Really glad I've convinced you. You won't regret it.

Deponia trilogy is the best what happened to point and click adventure genre ;) I was playing this series ~5 years ago and to my memories (which my deceive me to some extent) : 2nd installment was the best, 1st was intriguing and super funny but a bit clunky and slow, 3rd one was good and enjoyable but not as funny as predecessors, also I remember the ending Nino mentioned - yes, it is something worth playing for.

I am gonna send these guys another email asking them to make more! :D

Jokes falling flat seems to be a running theme for this Developer's games from what I can tell. But its on sale 4 games from the series for $4. Might as well.

It's still a lot of fun!

Will you be trying the 5th one?
@GameFilter Жыл бұрын
You just blew my mind! I had no idea a 5th game is coming. After checking the trailer and some of the screenshots, I am not sure what to think of it. I will almost certainly play it (once it is officially released), but it won't exactly be the kind of game I want. To me the point and click adventures in deponia were amazing and I would have happily played a prequel, sequel, spin-off, etc. But still - thanks a lot for informing me!

@@GameFilter Indeed, Poki has nothing to do with it. In fact, I don't think any of the original contributers do. It is basically a cash-grab, with only a small chance of it being good.

I downloaded the whole ollection onto my Switch because it reminded me of the old Monkey Island games, and I loved the first three games except for Deponia Doomsday; that one just felt tacked on when Goodbye Deponia brought an end to Rufus' story.

People give Doomsday too much of a hard time. Yes, it was no as good as the trilogy, but I still enjoyed it. I could also see myself enjoying a prequel of the game!

@@GameFilter oh I liked a lot of the story, but I felt that some of the timed puzzles were far harder than they needed to be and the gene splicer puzzle was impossible without a guide.

There's no way it can be perceived as tacked-on. Proof that preconceived notions stick, and stick *hard*, with some people.

Been wanting to get into the series. Seems like the first trilogy is what I'll go for and skip the 4th.
@GameFilter Жыл бұрын
Give it a shot. I think after the third one you will want more. While the fourth is not quite as good as the previous one, it's still an awesome game regardless!

It is better to say Deponia Trilogy and one, a bit trolling, alternative version of the series, something closer to reboot than series continuity.
@benziescha543810 ай бұрын
The first 3, if you can get them cheap enough, are worth a go. The 4th is terrible 😅 and though some of the nonsensical challenges encourage you to try everything and the protagonist is very unlikeable, unfunny jokes, some accomplishments immediately becoming redundant in the story despite being a struggle to achieve....the dialogue during the game is actually better at times than monkey island (try some things that don't work and he has several answers, rather than the Guybrush' constant "nah"). A more likeable main character, more plausible solutions and these games would've been much better.

Personally, I enjoyed the 4th one as well, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Terrible take. Fourth one is brilliant, and I'm definitely no fan-boy. From what I've seen of Dep Doomsday critics, is that they tend to be upset that their work doesn't pay off - that everything unravels and is meaningless. Obviously, that that's just a failing on their part in only gaining enjoyment from a make-believe world with a contrived story, if it ends in a make-believe happy ending. If you can overcome those monkeybrain requirements that tarnish everything, you'll enjoy it.
