Deportation Row: S. Jaishankar says, 'must encourage legal mobility & discourage illegal'

Speaking in Rajya Sabha, EAM Dr S Jaishankar says, "We know that 104 people came back yesterday. We are the ones who verified their nationality...Let us not make out as though this is a new issue. This is an issue which has been happening earlier. The authorities have been given instructions to sit with every one of the returnees (Indians deported from the US) and find out how they went to America, who was the agent, and how do we take precautions so that this does not continue..."

The question is not about the legality of deportation. The US is well within its right to deport illegal and undocumented immigrants. But the way they are being subjected to humiliation, mistreatment and embarassment that's the real issue. A public statement criticising the actions of the US administration would have helped.

Retired diplomats were warning Jai Shankar not to make fun of America in public he was constantly snubbing US and its foreign minister Antony Blinken. The US bureaucrats were noting it and were helpless under Biden. Diplomacy is not a high school debate to win claps it is done quietly behind closed doors. TN rejected this guy but North Indian brothers were supporting him now they are suffering his motor mouth. It is not nice to see brave Sikh men crying but Jai Shankar was constantly snubbing US. Don't know how he was in diplomatic service. total comedian.
