I'm sorry to say this, but you did the crime, got caught, and had to do the time. As someone who practised law in the Federal court system(E.D.N.Y.), I would say that you do not have a cause of action. Once you admitted to carrying illegal drugs, you defeated your own cause. Had you pleaded not guilty and still being convicted, you could have sued for many things, starting with false arrest. Doing an interview is also not going to help any potential legal action you may try. Suing for inhumane treatment in a U.S. prison is extremely difficult if you're no longer in the prison, and doing the case alone(as the sole litigant). My best advice is to see if you can connect with (by mail) current and former prisoners(from that prison) and see if you can work on a class action lawsuit against the prison.

I am all for humane treatment for everyone including people convicted of a crime. I also appreciate her speaking out to bring attention to this so it never happens or continues. HOWEVER, You need to take a low seat lady. You and your husband were bringing drugs into the US and you are contemplating a suit?
