Go and look at what the do, this is the information age and whether you like it or not, we'll need intelligent people at every level in the military, but obsolete mode of training like that would discourage the most competent people because such people know what they worth and won't let anyone ridicule them for nothing. Remember, this rubbish didn't help us in winning the war against boko haram, what helped was an inclusive strategy of proper planning, diligence, intelligence, discipline, etc.

There is a big difference between hardwork with encouragement, decipline and diligence as compared to the absurd punitory actions in that video. If you are not in the military especially army you won't understand it. Before I joined the army no one dare insult me and free. But after my army training I realize insult can't kill you.
