Totally agree and I can see how things like GAD and health anxiety - which can be chalk full of negative interpretations - often leads me into depression. Thanks again for these insights.

I agree negative thinking will definitely cause depression. Especially if you dwell on those thoughts. I'm looking forward to the other two videos on this topic. Thanks, again!

"It’s Probably Your Thoughts" Or perhaps the world has gone to sh1t. Videos like this are a kind of gaslighting. I know you mean well, but have you considered the fact that ww3 is happenning? Anyway, thank you for your efforts. We all need some guidance.

It's hard times undoubtedly. I don't think that relating depression to thoughts is gaslighting. I am depressed, I don't like the state of the world. I can still understand that to a non depressed mind, current) our current events are something that can be coped with pretty easily. Like when the bridge fell in Maryland a bit ago. I was glued to the news all day on the verge of tears and I don't even live there. Yet my family that life within 10 minutes of the bridge went to work as normal, were a bit shaken up but went on with their day. It is definitely thought related. Our depression can really skew our response to events that don't shake up other people to the same degree

There is a theory of depression that suggests that people with depression are the ones that actually see the world the way it is and people who aren't depressed are the ones who have it all wrong. So this isn't a new idea, I just don't think it's helpful (or true) if the goal is to feel better.

I am highly depressed and there are horrible things happening in the world. We aren't wealthy but I live in a nice place, good food, all my family is currently well. So here I am, barely able to function when nothing around me is currently wrong but my thoughts are constantly on what could go wrong, what was wrong in the past, and all the horrible things in the world (that aren't currently happening to me) . My life has had trauma and hard times but if I stop and look around me it's all okay. But in my head, not so much. I live in my head to my detriment. All these thoughts are keeping me stuck missing what's good around me, keeping me in bed when maybe I could be up and doing good for the world. So circumstances around me are good, but not in all the world. So should I keep going with my thoughts that everything is shit (since I saw the news) and ruining all the good around me and not enjoying it or even using it for doing good in the world? Or maybe I could not see this as gaslighting but someone trying to help me see that maybe if I got out of my head so much maybe I'd notice the good along with the bad and then be able to live a better life. Any one person living miserably because it's a "valid" response to the situation" is not going to make up for the bad things or save the world. Use any skill that helps you. I think we can do both... hold the truth of the situations of the world while working on thought patterns surrounding it that keep us depressed. If you are lifted, personally, out of depression, doesn't mean you have to stop caring about injustice. Good luck to all of us.

It's also important to remember that the availability of information also impacts our perceptions about what is happening. Positive, good things in the world rarely get the news attention that all the negative stuff does.

@@DrRamiNader AGREE. I'm still depressed but not binge watching news has done a world of good. And I've definitely felt moments of not doing my civic duty, but that's a lie. I see enough to stay basically informed so what good is it to the world if I keep watching until I feel it's no use to even try anymore or maybe live. Not good for me or my family and certainly won't change any of the things I just watched on the news! Thank you for what you do.

So, I'm depressed and it's my fault.? It's not that menticidal covert psychological murderers exist? 😮
@DrRamiNader7 ай бұрын
That's not the point of the video. Depression gets a person to think in overly negative ways. It's not the person's "fault".

@@DrRamiNader Narcissistic people get people to think in negative ways and work hard at distorting your perception of reality ; than when you're depressed, they cannot see the connection nor know why. That's the identified patient with munchausen by proxy, no?
