If I were a Sacramento city politician or business leader, I would start immediately rallying the populous and other business leaders for the stadium and the A’s. This is Sacramento‘s chance to show MLB that they can successfully be the home of a team. They already have an NBA team, and it would be a longshot to get an MLB team, but this is their chance to shine.

The first thing they should look at is Transportation and City development. Having the A’s there will cause major traffic jams, having walkable areas and reliable transportation to the stadium would be a huge help and more money for both West Sac and Downtown

Exactly, the smaller, more intimate stadium model would be for small market teams. My guess is that they will add seats to this stadium in Sacramento and love it. I owned a chain of restaurants. Many of my mid volume locations made more money than my urban, high-volume locations. Reason? Overhead. MLB is all about TV revenue now. Build the small park for $500-$700m tops.

The river cats do play some Sunday day games but they are not well attended because of the day heat. The reason for the artificial turf is that both the A’s and the river cats will both be utilizing the field and and turf grass would never hold up for that many days of play. There should be a rethinking of the configuration of new stadiums, with lower capacity of 28-33k, with bleachers and/or grass berms in the outfield, or home run decks reminiscent of the older stadiums. The politicians wanted the Expos to stay in the Olympic Stadium until it was paid off and wouldn't sign off on any funding.
